2018/19 Richarlison

Everytime we look better than usual (Martinez first season, RK second part of first season) there is a fear and rumors that Barca, Real, MU.... etc is coming for our manager or some player. After a year we would be happy to see this managers or players to leave club on free transfer just not to look at them. We are still in midtable, out of Europe with no silverware on sight. Richarlison loves to play for Silva, Silva have a good project and good back up so they are going nowhere.

Just as a players (like against MU - they ga ve them to much respect ), so supporters must get rid of that mid club mentality that "big club" is coming for something ours. It's a next step of evolution for this club.

its not a question of the supporters 'getting rid of a mentality' as being realistic in what is likely to happen - that he will be with us 2-3 seasons before the likes of City, Chelsea or UTd come in for him.

Maybe, and I would like this to happen, because it means he will have great 2-3 seasons for us, and I hope in that period we could be in top four so he wan't be too tempted to go.

It's all relative though isn't it? Taking a team from the 9th best to the 2nd best in the country is an achievement whether it's 1978 or 2018.

Kind of yeah. It means nothing in the end though. The game is so bad that we have to scramble around for other "achievements" because all the proper ones are sewn up.

It's not just clubs at our level either. David Moyes got one of the top 5 jobs in football due to nearly qualifying for the Champions League.

I might sound stupid here but I find the whole squad strength thing a bit of a myth. The most successful sides seem to stick with the same players pretty much week in, week out. Having a tight unit is the most important thing.

Chelsea have hardly changed their mind up at all this season. City rarely do either. Barca play the same team pretty much every week. When Leicester won the league they did so by playing the same players all the time.

You’re right that we need to be lucky with injuries but no Europe definitely helps.

Our 1st 11 is now up there with the best. I’m pretty happy with our back up in defence and wide players. We only seem to be one central midfielder (uograde on Davies) and possibly another striker (upgrade on Tosun) from what we need.

Pickford
Coleman Keane Mina Digne
Gana Gomes
Sigurdsson
Walcott Richatlison Bernard
Thats the likely line up vs Chelsea.

Coleman + Walcott should be 'looked at'.
No recovery pace in Central defence
No top quality options in Centre mid or Forward

Still a few players off...

Mate , if our first 11 is up there with the best and our back up is good, why are Not even in the top 6 and have lost every game to teams above us in the league so far

It’s only recently we’ve had a settled side. Players joined late in the window, others weren’t fit to start the season and Richarlison missed games through suspension. Now we have the opportunity to play a settled side I fully expect us to continue moving up the table.

Aye it is a bit depressing. 'Man City B' could conceivably finish where Burnley did last year if they were competing in the Prem.

From where we are, and particularly after last season, the prospect of an assault on 2nd place is immense, however the rewards for that quickly diminish with each passing season. The bar gets raised again and as you say, that final step of actually winning stuff is harder than ever. The demise of Wenger shows this, and if Spurs don't push on in the next 1-2 seasons the same will probably be said for Poch.

That being said, if we go from 9th to 2nd over the next few years then that’s a wave I want to ride. The history books may not remember it, and I probably won’t either due to excessive alcohol consumption, but what a ride it shall be!

I get what youre saying, but there are very few teams big enough to not worry about a bigger team snatching their players/manager, and Everton is certainly not one of those teams.
