...and we've needed one since Lukaku left. Anyone last summer could see the two/three forwards we had weren't the answer. It took Silva a half dozen gam,es to cast aside the attackers he inherited. He must have been seeing their limitations in the pre-season and must have been agitating for a striker of quality to fit his system. He was ignored.
OR there wasn't any of suitable quality available. But yeah, they should've thrown £60 mil at someone just to appease you. Done with Pickford and back on to Brands are we mate?

If he had played the games he’d missed he’d be right up there for the golden boot. But yeah he not good enough to play upfront for us or something.

No one better than the trash we have upfront.

Ha Ha Ha.

...in the whole of world football.

Ha Ha ha.

Better isn't the word I used. I said of suitable quality. There's a difference. You can throw money at most strikers and they'd be better than our forwards but that doesn't mean they would be good enough for where we want to go. Would you prefer to waste money on a stop gap or get the right man? I know what I'd prefer and I'm sure with Brands' current record with signings, the wait will be worth it.

..it’s another failing of Walsh that he not only brought in the wrong striker, he brought in the wrong type of striker (I said so at the time). We need a player with real pace, power and ability to unsettle CBs in this league.

I know you’ve been critical of Brands, but I think him and Silva have done a remarkable job transforming the squad to this extent in such a short period of time. It gives me confidence they know the type of player we need.

That makes no sense to me. Better/suitable.

You're dancing on the head of a pin.

I;ve been critical of his ability to do only one half of his job: buying/loaning players in.

Better and suitable are not the same. For example, Josh King would be better than what we have. Would you say he is suitable for a team with top 6/4 aspirations? If we are gonna improve a much needed area of the pitch I'd rather make a considerable jump in quality otherwise we are gonna replace them in a years time and it would be pointless.

All of our six signings so far have been good though Dave.

Digne - excellent.
Gomes - has transformed how we play.
Richarlison - excellent.
Bernard - brings real quality, still building himself up to the pace/physicality of the league.
Zouma - excellent.
Mina - we've kept two clean sheets (should have been three) from the three games he's played and he looks perfectly suited to how we want to play.

Would he?

That lad Wilson at Bournemouth is better than what we have and would be.

To argue there's no suitable players in world football for us is ridiculous, and I think you know it.

....I recall you being very critical of him for bringing in Gomes and Mina because they were carrying injuries. Regardless, this is the Richarlison thread.

Which is an absolutely fair point.

But both, Gomes in particular has been excellent so far so the whole injury thing can go away. Even if we got 25-30 games a season rather than 40-50 that would be ace for Gomes.

I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing the other side of his job is neglected / not in his locker: selling players for value.
