2018/19 Richarlison

Why wouldn't he rock the boat? Again, I'm not arguing that he would but I don't know the lad. Nor do any of us. Of course it's likely his value will continue to increase but sometimes it becomes untenable to hang on to an unhappy, discontent player and (for the good of the rest of the squad) it's best to take the money. Buying clubs know this and players know this.

I'm basing my assertion that he'd be capable of it on previous Brazilians in the Premier League (or South Americans in general
) who historically yearn to play for Barca and Madrid almost as much as their national team. And if they believe there is a solid offer forthcoming, we've seen transfer requests, feigned injuries, refusals to play and just general disharmony amongst the group - and that's just Liverpool players.

If he has a strong Copa and Barcelona make a bid, I'd expect to see toys out of the pram. Thankfully, we'd be in a strong position to command silly money. Make no mistake though, the boy is a talent and if he doesn't go to the very top i'll be surprised.

Yeah because over the years the english players have shown true loyalty to there clubs havent they?

Rooney
McManaman

As others have said he isn't the finished article yet, and any coach will identify that he is improving. One thing I've mentioned before is the reaction Barcelona and others will have to the success of English teams in the European Cups, much of it particularly the Chumpians league finalists is based on high press and quick turnover, Richarlison is excellent at this, high stats for interventions etc.
I worry about his agent not the player having his head turned in the short term, long term Richarlison will inevitably want Champions league of course.

I think you’ve got him all wrong. Did he want out of Watford last summer? Or did we sign him because we offered what was considered a big fee at the time.

With the respect he has for Silva, there is no way he would throw his toys out the pram this summer.
There is a good chance he will end up at one of them clubs, but not for a couple of years imo.

He absolutely adores Marco.

While SIlva's here, he won't rock the boat.

You raise good points, absolutely. However, I don't think his "Father/Son" relationship with Silva can be underestimated. You can tell the lad truly believes Silva is the best coach for him, at this point in his career.

Same for a lot of the others. Players like Gomes wouldn't have contemplated moving to Everton if we still had Koeman/Allardyce in charge.

Is Silva a pull as a manager? I'm talking, more of a pull than the inevitable lure of a Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Juve etc? I'm not sure that he is. Don't get me wrong, Ronaldo worshipped Fergie as a manager, that was clear to see. Still didn't stop him moving to Madrid.

I think you're perhaps placing a great emphasis on a relationship that none of us are privy to.

Well yes, he did want out of Watford last summer, otherwise he wouldn't have left. You could be right, the reason could have been his desperation to work with Marco again. Equally, it could have been the lure of a bigger project here. We could have simply chucked bigger wages at him. He may have just been discontent in Hertfordshire, who knows?! I'm not professing to know the answer.

Surely a better example here would have been South Americans who have shown real loyalty in the face of interest from "more appealing" clubs.

On point one, I don't disagree.

On point two, if the offer is right I disagree. I hope i'm wrong, mind. I just think that top footballers are typically very ambitious, and what sort of ambition would he have if he didn't yearn to play at the top level. I'm not convinced we'll make that leap fast enough for him, therefore a collision at some point is inevitable given his growth curve.

he's boss, had a boss season and has started his international career brilliant

don't think he's ready for a "massive" move yet as he's still abit inconsistent against the "big teams" in a year or 2 though think we'll have a lot of clubs after him

hopefully we start producing on the field

The word loyalty doesn’t exist in football any more.

All we can hope for is that if and when a bigger club comes in for him he deals with it in a respectful way and so do we.

There’s no point trying to keep a player who is desperate to go. Moyes did it and it was to the detriment of the whole team. It would also put off players who could see us as a stepping stone if they believed it would be difficult to leave in a few years.
