Hes in very bad form but that can happen. If he is as good as he thinks he is, and as good as I think he can be, then he puts in a massive season next year. Good players follow up a bad season with a good one.

He needs to accept he's made mistakes and learn from this. I'm sure hes massively frustrated but he doesnt seem to be channelling it well right now. A lot of his play comes across as a bit greedy and not for the team. If he can use it as a learning curve then some good can come from it.
He won't have the energy to put in a good season next term: he's off to the Copa which is being played in Colombia AND Argentina. So not only will he be traveling to South America from Europe and back, he will also be criss-crossing South America, in all likelihood. He has a ready-made reason/excuse for a slow start to next season already.

I can see us getting a really bum deal in all this: he'll go to South America with all the tiring travel that entails and get stuck on the bench. Then he'll come back to us tired and demoralised.

I don't really think we're going to see a whole lot more of Richarlison at Everton - or at least an effective Richarlison at Everton. If we need to sell an asset to augment a rebuild, he would be my starting point.

Buried down beneath the stats is a players who can do four things, finish well in the box, tirelessly chase players for periods and patches, fall and win frees, and one trick left wing pony with the ball of lateral running. Except the first, the others can be easily worked in favour of opposition.
I suspect playing on the left in current form sees the team worse off still.
So a one-trick pony that can do four tricks?

@Toffeelover he's had his patches, but they don't cancel out the rest.
There was a moment in the match where, can't remember who, allan or sig I think, who gets the ball from the breakdown and there is really only one option, to pass to Richarlison in a good counter position. What does he do? Turns his back and runs towards the ether. The passer is now left with an impossible pass and gets caught. His inability to sense or read the better play/option is really poor.
Meanwhile thats balanced out by 'professionals mercenaries who no too well their limited abilities.

I like the chance a few weeks ago when Gomes picked the pocket of the player who was the last defender . Then Richy , who is already offside started running further offside and then Gomes who is 10 years a behind richy and basically through on goal if he didn’t run like he was under water , passes it to him and they’re offside . That was the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen from a pair of Everton players.

Yeah some of it has been u14s poor.
He's such a sweet player when things are set up simply for him to do his thing, ie the play, whether crowded or not, he makes use of the space that exist in the moment. Its like, under the cover of darkness he shines. But he's no torch bearer and some of the interplay and decision making has been disgraceful. Its a good thing Seamus is at the other end of the pitch cause the sulking on the pitch might go stratospheric.
I reckon it got to a point somewhere in the season that he played DCL out of form.
We need a RW and also a LW.
If hes still here he going to have to show more for the team, and fight for his place. The team can't carry an out of form player like this.

I can't help but feel like he only performs with a crowd on his back. Nothing wrong with that in normal times as Goodison Park tends to provide an atmosphere, but the past year and a bit have been hard on him.

I wouldn't mind dropping him for a bit.

Would anyone miss him if he wasn't in the starting XI?
With the benefit of hindsight you'd have DCL and Richarlison fighting it out for the 9 spot and King given a chance to earn a wage on the left.
Just need time to build a proper squad and for Carlos not to lose faith.
Most importantly, a squad Goodison believes in, then we'd be unbeatable. ☺

But Richarlison is never a Number 9. Not a No. 10. Not a traditional winger either...

He plays his best game when he doesn't look for the ball, but for space for him to exploit in and try to advance it for 10 yards before giving it back to someone else, or, circumstances allowed, try a potshot.

Unfortunately he has declined to someone who demands the ball and wanted to put it into the net HIMSELF when it gets to his feet. Which horribly exposes his statistically poor final ball.

Unless he can be coached to play a simpler game, and look to pass the ball first, his Everton career, and football career, will be finished.

Strong sell for me.

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME OF THAT?!!? Absolutely awful wasn't it. I think in Richys defence he was creating space for Gomes to run into but Gomes wet his pants and want to get rid of the ball asap so he had no pressure on him.
