Perhaps you do find it funny, my friend, but what I find funnier - or more to the point bewildering - is that many posters are talking about building a side around the waster.

There are some horrific shouts in a few threads at the moment but Richarlison was our best player before this season imo and the one that most people were afraid of leaving as he’d be so hard to replace.I just find it utterly childish that a player who seemed to be fairly well loved by the fans up to this season is now getting pelters for the outrageous crime of having a crap season ( even tho the crap season still involved him working his arse off and contributing to some degree to some wins and our overall pts total)
crybabies
I hope he stays and I fully believe he will get back on form if he does
Wide in a front 3 is what I was referring to. That is the wing. He's never played as a 4-4-2 style winger. And he has more impact in terms of returns from out there. If we can get a similar player on the other side with Dom central it'll be a good attack imoHe's really not very good on the wing though. That's been a big part of the problem this year for me, he's been stuck out wide and playing deep because of the set up, and he just doesn't have enough to his game to have an impact there. He's not a gifted footballer really, he's very much in the Tim Cahill mould - works hard, good in the air, good finisher, good movement but not a great dribbler or passer etc - and the deeper he is the less chance he gets to utilise the attributes he's got. I'd say his best position is probably wide in a front 3, and if that's not a system we're going to use then frankly it's not really worth keeping hold of him. And I say that as a big fan of his.
Have you watched us this season? He's spent most of it playing wide left as a conventional winger, spending half the game being an extra full back. We haven't played 433 since about the 5th game of the season.Wide in a front 3 is what I was referring to. That is the wing. He's never played as a 4-4-2 style winger. It's not that he had a bad year for me so much as he's not really kicked on at all from where he was when we signed him. I'm not sure why we'd expect him to now short of getting a different manager in to see what he can do.There are some horrific shouts in a few threads at the moment but Richarlison was our best player before this season imo and the one that most people were afraid of leaving as he’d be so hard to replace.
One poor season and people are saying get rid? Not just that but in a season where we’ve all said we played slow stale football and Richarlison is a player who scored from set pieces or on the break which we’ve barely done the second of all season.
Get a team that plays with a quicker tempo and suddenly he’ll be slotting again and everyone will forgive the fact that he’s a face like a slapped arse because he always looks sulky because he needs that edge to push himself on the pitch.
I've watched every game yea and he played most of the season in a 2 with Dom. He does a lot of defensive work because yes but thats not his fault is it? Where he was in the 4-3-3 at the start is his best position... It is still 4-3-3 even if the team is defensive a lot. Any 4-4-2 he was never on the wing always up top. and when 3 at the back which was a lot it was always in a 2 up top with Dom...he also played solo up top when Dom was out and he is not half as good as Dom as a solo strikerHave you watched us this season? He didn’t kick on because we played horrible sluggish football and have the least dynamic midfield in world football, especially when injuries prevented our most dynamic Doucoure and Allan from playing together for most of the season. It's not that he had a bad year for me so much as he's not really kicked on at all from where he was when we signed him. When he plays against Bolivians that aren't good enough for the championship I think he'll look good too.He didn’t kick on because we played horrible sluggish football and have the least dynamic midfield in world football, especially when injuries prevented our most dynamic Doucoure and Allan from playing together for most of the season.
I guarantee it he plays for Brazil in the Copa and they play with pace and flair he’ll look a real player again.
I'm not saying it's his fault? I'm saying whatever it says our formation or his position is on a pre-game graphic, he is spending much of his time defending and occupying wide positions where he can't do any damage. The point i'm making is that if we're going to continue asking him to do that it's a complete waste of a £50m+ asset because it totally negates what he's good at. He's at his best in and around the box, he's not a player who's going to skip past challenges and whip balls in from the byline, or who's going to get involved in intricate build up play. As I said, if we're not going to go back to 433 i'm not sure there's much point in having him.I've watched every game yea and he played most of the season in a 2 with Dom. Not his best season but we would be absolute imbeciles to sell him at this point as he would be at his lowest possible worth.
Well that's the issue isn't it? Carlo said he changed the system because Richy wanted to be up front more and have less defensive duties, but we were better at the start when he did both and he is better too. If he combined well with Dom in a 2 then we'd be sorted, but he doesn't and Carlo needs to address that. I think he will when we get someone for the right. James better centrally, and can't play all games anyway. Richy got a couple of assists whipping in a ball with his left foot but he is better cutting inside and working with Digne on the overlap...can worry defender Richy when he's running at them imo, he's definitely not an out and out striker and he and Dom get in each other's way too often.I'm not saying it's his fault? I doubt he's getting the move he wants but if the right offer comes in sell him. He's not even close to irreplaceable.I agree, but he was very public about his wishes to leave last season and graciously gave us "one more year".
I think it is reasonable to expect more public comments about leaving and maybe even more disruptive behaviour.
There have been many players who resorted to destroy training sessions in order to get their move and will be encouraged by the buying club and agent to speed up the process.
You would hope Richarlison behaves better than this, but I would not be surprised to see it either.
