If we sell him now with no contingency plan (i.e. a couple decent new players coming in before the window shuts) then it pretty much tells me that the board are expecting a complete dud of a season either way.

Given its Marcel Brands in charge, I would suggest the latter of these options unfortunately.
Is brands in charge though that's the problem too many cooks .
I've no problem blaming brands if he was the man in sole charge of recruitment but nothing I've seen suggests he is

They know they've got the right manager in place to work miracles on a budget. Sell Richarlison for big money, buy another Gray for a few mill who can do the business.

Well this is a pivotal moment, if Richarlison goes with no recruitment coming in then we are taking many steps back. Look at West Ham they are were I would expect us to at least be, Zouma FFS is going there when he could have been an Everton player. We are going to fall further and further behind and make the task impossible. Hold off on building a trophy room at BMD

I'd rather this, than try and paper over the cracks.

If we sell Richarlison, it's clearly very important we don't kneejerk and panic buy. Signing no one is better than signing garbage.

No matter what happens with Richarlison.

We won't get relegated.
We won't finish top 6.

Build to compete when we have the capacity to do so.

This is where I’m at really.

Use some of the money for the likes of Patterson and Jebbison. But don’t feel that we *have* to spend it.

Would be nice to get someone like McKennie on loan as well like.

I don't think the club have a philosophy from the top that the DoF and manager maintain; see Brighton, they took on Potter because he would follow their vision.

This means that while Brands may have a vision or template, that we'd ideally follow in terms of our long-term strategy, the manager can override this.

You can't say Allan, Rodriguez, King or Townsend follow his original vision regardless of whether they're suitable signings or not.

Zouma is crap???

Zouma on 100k+ a week would just have us in the same position in about 2 years

We would absolutely have to sign an actual striker with a half-decent scoring record. Imagine DCL does his cruciate ligaments next week and we've got rid of Richarlison and Kean.

Nonsense. What elite club scouts players at the olympics of all places? The standard at the olympics is total crap! If he moves to PSG it’s because of performances in the last two Copa and premier leagues

Well he was off the back of a dog awful Prem season so I think he had a point to prove.

If we sell Richy at the end of the window, I would almost prefer us not to sign anyone to replace him. We have bought players in panic before and it had rarely if never gone well.

If we are selling him, Everton need to make a decision today or tomorrow and sign a replacement before he goes so we don’t get had off with prices by clubs who know we have money.

As soon as any Richy sale was announced, any incomings to us would add 5-10 million on their asking price.

I am not happy about selling Richy but I think a big bid would solve a lot of our problems and there is also the concern that fatigue will see him drop off like he did in previous years especially before he joined us.
