Just like how the two years from 2014-2016 showed that Lukaku being one of our best players is an 11th place side? Your logic doesn’t work.

No it doesn't, but the point I'm trying to make here is Richarlison isn't irreplaceable. I think Rom is a bad comparison because I think Rom was top class with us and I don't see Richarlison at that level. Closer to Barkley leaving.

I know he’s not irreplaceable. I just don’t see how replacing a proven good prem player and one of our only goalscorers with Diaz (promising), some RB from Scotland who you can’t even name, and Hudson Odoi would make you “really happy”. Seems like treading water at best. We need to add players on top of our existing quality.

Because we'll have real money to make moves and have invested some of it in talented young, or at least youngish in Diaz case, players who we can move forward with. Richardson is going at some point. And Hudson-Odoi for me is still super high potential so I'd be doing anything I could to work that out.

And the vast majority of these players turn out to be utter mediocrities in our shirt. Having seen the 80s side, I can honestly say there were only a handful of Everton players since who were worthy of anything approaching similar devotion. Rooney when he broke through (before the club broke our hearts), Beardsley, Kanchelskis for about six months, Nigel Martyn, Tim Cahill, and Lukaku (for the most part) make up the bulk of those. The Barkleys of the world were ten a penny. Utter mediocrities who many thought were stellar performers.
Richarlison is utterly replaceable (if not before this window closes). I don't know if he's upset at missing some World Cup qualifiers - he's entitled to be - but he's not entitled to resent the club's logic for refusing his release (if that is what they have done). Everton pays his salary. Why should Everton lose him for three games - and risk his health - just so he can play for Brazil in the middle of a global pandemic? That said, I don't know if he does resent the club. Benefit of the doubt from me for now.
