I like the guy and we'll undoubtedly miss his presence in the side, but can't help but feeling that we've lost better players previously and that includes Lukaku.

It's absolutely imperative now though that we recruit strongly. A real acid test for Thelwell this.

But yes, agree that's a ridiculous price, the initial £50m. It should be £5-10m more.

However. I'm not shocked, because the club is run dreadfully and we are financially knackered. We literally need to have a deal agreed by midnight tonight. Spurs know it.

He isn't though. They agreed 55m for him which includes the add ons. His up front cost will be less than 50m.

Raphinha is going for £57m. Then the add ons take it to £60-65m. Richarlison is £50m with add ons to £60m.

Both might never reach the add ons but Raphinha is not going for £15m more.

The worst part isn't even the fee, it's the fact that we know there's a good chance that we'll just piss it up the wall, again, like we've done countless times. He's legitimately one of only 3 or 4 sellable assets in a squad of 25, that is a shocking indictment on the club. If they mess up the reinvestment on this then we're really in a lot of trouble that we won't be able to get out of.

I have 0 faith that anyone at the club will spend any money we have wisely.
