...yep, some didn't like that suggestion. He does get caught ball watching at times and my fear would be players getting in behind him but you wouldn't truly know until it happened. I reckon he won't gamble in the next game, he might go 3 at the back but we'll see.
He's pretty responsible and still has TONS of pace. I think a back three with Baines/Lennon on the wing is worth a shot, but plugging in Holgate makes sense, too.

I would think Lennon is that cover if we are looking for makeshift options.

If we're talking wingers as cover, I'd rather try a Lennon than a Deulofeu (yes I'm aware he's on loan).

Lennon always seemed to play well with Seamus so if it's right sided "wing backs" we're to try with a three-at-the-back system, Lennon may be well suited in an emergency until May.

In which case Groucho mate, then we may as well flog on Kenny - if at 20 and with Coleman out for the foreseeable, he is gonna get someone like Lennon shoehorned in to play ahead of him then honestly he's got no future (especially as Koeman clearly doesn't rate Lennon long or short term for us)

Don't think he will mate, 3 for us has onyl worked when Holgate was on the right side of the 3, when he didnt play we got absolutely tore to shreds by Chelsea as Jagielka and williams are too slow next to each other in a back 3

and right now, after Holgate got badly targeted against Stoke, i don't see Koeman in a game of this importance going with him - especially against a team that tries to play the ball into that channel between cb and fb etc which is precisely how Holgate was exposed in the Stoke game

...makes more sense to me. Kenny would be my choice in a flat back four, nothing like being thrown in at the deep end but that's why these lads are contracted.

Yup, given that i think Davies made his debut against Saints (which after they turned us over must have been a massive game for Koemans pride etc) and giving a start to DCL against Arsenal (his first start) i don't think he will be scared to throw him in - caveat - IF he is judged to be ready - which hopefully the lads busting his backside this week realising he has possibly that one chance in his career that he needs to grab

...the opposition is another consideration. The Reds don't play with a lot of natural width (wingers), he might be more tempted to play wing backs.

A lot will depend if schneiderlin is fit enough I guess mate, at least hopefully he is anyway as it gives us a lot more options - no idea how the rs havevdonecagainst a back 3 this season either.

You misunderstand me.

My first choice would be Holgate mate.

Aye think that's probably what we will go with, would hare seeing Lennon or a central mid there, as that's all too reminiscent of what we have done for years without success, it's the safe option of playing an experienced player rather than trusting the young lads who lets face it don't ever tend to let us down when we give them a chance.

Love to see him go full trust mode and go with Kenny, it's the Derby and you know he'd give everything to the cause, lining up with Davies, Barkley and Kenny in the starting 11 would be some sight.

I suppose it's good that you aren't a hypocrite at least. Obviously, you're entitled to the view that Seamus getting his leg broken is all part of a man's game, but that does kind of indicate that you're an utter weapon.
Same statement would indicate that you're a complete fanny, Friend. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, and I would not have it any other way. Should we do ballet instead?

...they have struggled to break teams down who simply get men behind the ball and sit deep. To a certain extent they did against us in the 2nd half at Goodison. I suppose that might lend itself more to a back 4 but the problem comes if you concede early on. Regardless we need to provide a threat going the other way.
