The MOBOs aren't based on skin colour. White artists can and have won them.

They are for artists considered to perform music of "Black Origin" i.e. Blues, Jazz, Soul etc. Which is kind of daft as music has evolved over milennia.

There aren't any MOWO's because virtually all other popular music forms, for which there are plenty of award ceremonies, are dominated for the most part, by white artists.

The MOBOs seem a bit redundant from a musical perspective. Jazz, blues, soul and then hip-hop are all genres derived from either Africa or Africans/African-Americans in the US in the 20th century. Nowadays the stuff played at these award ceremonies is (subjective as it is) utter tosh that's far removed from these original genres. It could just as easily be a white guy being autotuned badly over a repetitive beat.

Yeah I know! But it's still music derived from a race. Which is all well and good. What I'm getting at is that if there was a MOWO awards- say largely based on rock n roll or classical, there would be hell to pay. I'm not offended or anything. I just think it should be pointed out.

But yeah, I'm not saying there should be, but I tell you what white people don't kick up half as much a fuss about being white as black people do about being black. Who actually cares? The dark days (for the majority of society) are over. I dont care if Obama is white or black, if hes the best man for the job he's the best man for the job. Far too much was played on the colour of his skin. But yeah this IS off topic.

Oh I know I could. But haven't in this thread. Its just how I feel. I hate it when people make a big deal out of race. No one actually cares anymore. People need to loosen up and take the piss out eachother. All races, religion whatever should be open to a good piss taking. Politcal correctness has only made things more tense. Its like gay people with all there gay pride stuff. The only people that care they are gay is them.

I wish that were true mate, but it'll only be true when people stop getting discriminated against, beaten up and worse for their sexuality and skin colour.

"Political correctness" exists to protect vulnerable people. It's a shame that thanks to a few over-zealous idiots and other people misusing it to push their own agendas it's become a dirty phrase.
