Riots in the UK...

You wouldn't have known that last week 2000 black kids protested peacefully at Tottenham police station and were completely ignored.

They're not being ignored now.

For me, the deeper problem is a combination of only giving a **** about yourself and what you possess- and feeling that you can just take what you don't have- a desire to have "swagger" with your mates/ gang- and a lack of direction from the home. Everyone is always so swift to point the finger at schools, governments etc etc- but the first place you learn about morals/ values/ not just what your rights are but also your responsibilities is in the home. How can you create community support and bring about change, when it doesn't come from within? Then it's just imposed and will never last.

F*CKING SPOT ON.

All this talk about why it happened and excusing needs to be ditched, it's down to above. They don't give a [Poor language removed] about anything apart from themselves. They need crushing. And if they're under 18 then their parents need to be held accountable too.

For every (1) ****ebag throwing petrol bombs, there is (5) model citizens opposed to it..

Am I the only one who thinks a counter movement should be started?

who with lad ,do you need any jellys??

Hahahaha.

Funny enough discussed this with my mate from Kensington before. We'd both love nothing more than the honour of representing the community tonight, without fear of prosecution.

It's nothing to do with colour mate.

Was just repeating what I heard a kid say on the telly earlier.

In one NBC report, a young man in Tottenham was asked if rioting really achieved anything:

"Yes," said the young man. "You wouldn't be talking to me now if we didn't riot, would you?"

"Two months ago we marched to Scotland Yard, more than 2,0...00 of us, all blacks, and it was peaceful and calm and you know what? Not a word in the press. Last night a bit of rioting and looting and look around you."

Eavesdropping from among the onlookers, I looked around. A dozen TV crews and newspaper reporters interviewing the young men everywhere ‘’’

I got the timing and location wrong.

What like Vigilantism? Not so sure on that although I think people should be banding together and protecting their property. I am hopeful that in Liverpool at least, the Police will control it better tonight.

Fair enough lid. That's another good example of what utter mongs they are. Please, stamp all over them ffs.

Well, if you want to come 1/2 a mile down the road to my Bethnal Green Tescos, you can see it was looted good and proper last night. Not much police defence there

I have friends who work with that very community in Hackney- who don't really help themselves too much when they trash the community centres set up to provide help and support, and steal the computers from the rooms set up to help them write CVs and cover letters and get them jobs and support.

It is a minority, but it is a very visible minority; as was witnessed last summer with London Field shootings, and the countless stabbings, and I myself have seen bikes stolen right in front of owners etc. For me, the deeper problem is a combination of only giving a **** about yourself and what you possess- and feeling that you can just take what you don't have- a desire to have "swagger" with your mates/ gang- and a lack of direction from the home. Excellent. One tescos down.

I agree that morality should come from the home, but when you have generations of problems within a community its very easy for a moral vacuum to develop.

What would you do shoot them, lock them up for 30k a year? What is the solution?

I'm in hackney btw just up from the Penbury estate.

The only understand a disproportionate amount of violence back at them. If it takes locking them up for six years to consider their actions then do it. And when their parents scream outrage, f*cking jail them too for failing to control them.

It's simple cause and consequence. They have no consequences right now and until they do they have no reason to stop.
