I wish it was realistic to take away the benefits from the criminals involved in rioting and arson...as there is a logic why should we pay for them when they destroy our property, but sadly its not realistic

Just to say i would like to see anyone convicted of violent offences to be given massive sentences and life should mean life. No prisons? thats because theyre full of people on minor drug offences and people on recall, revolving door. Not comfortable changing drug laws and still no prisons? Well havent we decommissioned ships recently. Floating prisons. And rum, sodomy and the lash if there is time.

I don't see why a % (let's call it riot tax) can't be deducted from every convicted rioter's wages / benefits.

I agree with your sentiments but it would be shot down as unworkable, money needed to feed children etc etc. What should be in place already is a benefits voucher scheme rather than giving money that ends up spent by some on drugs and alcohol. The honest and genuine would be unaffected.
