Maybe this guy or Fernandez is still a possibility.
 

One thing for sure, if wyness is confident of making such a statement I'm sure we have sufficient money to spend.
 
I think someone hit on it in another thread- I think there will be a fairly hefty siging just before the ballot for the ground move. Please please please let it be either Riquelme or Manny. Permanently.
 
say we did get Riquelme, where would we play him? from the outside he isn't quite a Moyes type player. Do we fit the team around him and would Arteta's nose be out of joint as a result?

Why not try growing up and contributing somethiing useful to this thread.

Let's break your post down shall we. We can afford Riquelme. We could have afforded David Nugent. BUT 6million for a championship player with the Prem experience is irresponsible and silly. Kudos to Portsmouth/Villa/Wigan et al for driving up prices for mediocre players.

Riquelme will never go to the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid. He has always stated he will not go to massive clubs, as he prefers to prove himself time and again with good, but not top clubs.

Whether or not we sign him is irrelevent, but you obvioulsy seem the type of supporter who thinks we should have stumped up 5 million for Koumas, or 6 million for Nugent which IMO shows your intelligence level pretty well.

So, again, if you want to add something useful or insightful, then have fun, but don't continue with your defeatist attitude here.

Or go back to you red mates and tell them we made you first time out.
 
hefty signings, notable names, big money

I dont give a rats ass, the season that followed the summer where we signed cahill and bent was a pretty good un - we broke the top four stranglehold and proved a point that had people sit up and take notice.

i dont want to be a galacticos, or a poor mans galacticos like newcastle so readily are.

give me honest grit, determination and a single minded hatred of losing and i'll take it. i do not want a bunch of poncey pratts pretending to play. i'll take heart over image any day of the week.

We didn't loose that fight. Don't even know if Moyes was really interested in him at the first place. Just because a player comes out and says he wants a move here doesn't meen we loose out if he goes somewhere else. If Nugent had cost say £2M then I might be agreeing that we lost out on him... but for £6M? It's waaayyy too much for a player that hasn't shown anything on toplvl football.

Don't think Barca or Real would be interested in Riquelme either. Sure he might fit into their squad... but something tells me he isn't on their target lists.

yeah you are right on the nugent bit and any way let him prove his worth in the top flight and then go for him cuz he isnt going to turn us down is he?

and riquelme i think might just be to old for them!
