We didn't loose that fight. Don't even know if Moyes was really interested in him at the first place. Just because a player comes out and says he wants a move here doesn't meen we loose out if he goes somewhere else. If Nugent had cost say £2M then I might be agreeing that we lost out on him... but for £6M? It's waaayyy too much for a player that hasn't shown anything on toplvl football.

Don't think Barca or Real would be interested in Riquelme either. Sure he might fit into their squad... but something tells me he isn't on their target lists.

Barca definitely wouldn't, he's a none EU player. How do you think Villarreal got him in the first place? Barca had to loan him to Villarreal and then eventually sell him.

The good question that got skipped over was, where would Moyes play him if we did sign him? I suspect it would be mostly in a 451, with license to roam while the other 4 in midfield played more standard roles. Alternatively, use him wide left like Argentina have at times (burt cutting inside), with Arteta wide right, and Cars, Jags and Cahill in the middle behind AJ.
