What are your expectations for the season now so you are happy to give him longer?

Very very good question, that.

I personally loathe RM, and the unbalanced team and squad bodes potential for frustrated, talented lads leaving with him in the summer.

But say we pinch the cup?

1. I think BK wanted a crack at winning something and as chairman who's seen the clubs fortune improve under his tenure, a cup and Europa birth would top it off nicely.

2. Landing that might help fix at least the issue of talent heading out the door ( albeit I think the squad needs 3-4 major signings anyway to compete where it should in the league ).

That then, with some potential ( or value ) in the squad would make RM's time a laudable move on paper.

The harsh side of that for me is tactically he's shown his hand with Wigan and now with Everton on the same trajectory I think he goes regardless, but for his and the clubs sake I hope with some silver.

in all of this not one player has done an interview in support of Martinez, no Phil Neville rallying cry, no "its our responsibility" interviews, speaks volumes, hoping for an easy Watford win today,it may be the only thing that puts Him and us out of our misery.

Quite a few have said they reckon he goes regardless of whether he wins the cup or not, I genuinely can't see that. I'd agree that his league performance has been unacceptable for 2 years now, but if he wins the cup I'd be amazed if they got rid, despite what I want to happen and what should happen.

I agree with you mate. In fact, I'm not convinced he'll go even if he doesn't win the cup. His tone doesn't exactly suggest he is getting pressure from the top-notch just from the fans.

"
Romelu has been a success story. He is on a long-term contract. It’s not that we are going to lose him on a free.

"Ideally we want to keep Romelu for the long term, because we want to be in the Champions League as well"

I take it that's as close as we will get to an admission that rom is gone

'I'm not someone who is going to come up with excuses...'

LOL

So improve the youth teams buy buying players for big bucks so that the youth players find it harder to break into the first team

Given Martinez record on bringing through youth players that's probably about right

No mate.

The youth teams should all be playing a similar style to the first team (with various tweaks) so over a period of time if they come through into the first team they each play the same way as they always have done -- same as the setup as La Masia which Cruyff changed.

Now, if the first team is all top notch and winning champions leagues it will be that only the best kids come through. If its sitting in 12th then more kids come through as the quality level is lower.

Buying in players would mean the bar is set higher. My thinking is that over the next 2+ seasons (after the 3 we have had) we will start seeing kids coming through which may even be Galloway/Holgate/Foulds types or local boys.

It sounds like we have Ledson,Walsh,Dowell and more on the verge now as well as Galloway,Browning,Holgate also who should all be with the squad in the summer.

What we desperately need this summer and the next and the next are a couple of players to come through.

Then we slot them in on the bench or give them games here and there till they are ready then sell the backup players to allow them to compete with our first choice guys.

Samr as Utd and Barca have done very publically.

We have 3 or 4 top class youngsters that are overly exciting far too many to believe that the majority of the average squad are guns.
Just my opinion of course.

Stones
Mori (perhaps next season)
Besic (over his injuries)
McCarthy (not alongside barry)
Deulofeu (fitness and defensive work)
Barkley
Lukaku

They are our young core group. Hopefully we can add galloway to this also next season. However just on paper and just on their weaknesses they are still all individually a long way off their best.

Another blue wanting us to lose. I mean really. BAWK.

Quite a few now. Ive seen 4 saying they dont want to win the cup....double that saying they want him sacked so someone else can win the cup (?!?!?) and quite a few more again wanting a loss to watford.

You need to question them as people really. I mean if we had a manager everyone of us despised who won te league for us then we'd all be thrilled....or would we ;)

I do, and I still believe that most don't want him sacked in the morning. We'd be a laughing stock if we sacked our manager in April. Not sure many blues want us to be a laughing stock....

I agree that long-term, most have turned against him, but as a club, and a fan-base, we're above and beyond sacking him just yet.

..here's a thing in relation to that. I agree with you, to a point, about that. But the thing is we're NOT that far off from being so to some if we're not already, a laughing stock that is. Not that it arses me at all, the club and my/our support of them are bigger than some bad weapon with the hissy-giggles...

But, I have mates who are fervent supporters of other clubs who take the piss massively out of us, all good spirited like but nonetheless...little Everton with the billionaire owner and a manager who thinks his 'philosophy' football is beyond reproach...all that jazz. And the odd thing is, and partic this week, they've taken more of an interest given the BAINES stuff.

There was times when I literally couldn't wait for BRENDAN RODGERS to open his mad gob just to laugh at what fell out of it.

I'm starting to think some of me mates now feel the same about our BOBSY.
