I think if Martinez had dropped Howard earlier on we would be about 4th in the table, funny how he dropped him
as soon as the yanks pulled out of proposed buy out ...... more stats ......

I've felt there's been something odd about the Howard situation.
Possible that his judgment on him was that bad but I'm definitely willing to believe it had something to do with attracting American interest. Maybe slightly less conspiratorial but I think it's possible he didn't want to expose Robles till as late as possible as well.
Either way it remains the biggest negative of his time here

From Daily Fail.

He did not make comment on the current manager though.

I agree, I wonder if we were seen as a more attractive purchase to USA investors, with their world cup hero
Martinez dropped him at the same time they cooled interest

Moyes actually regards the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool as one of his greatest disappointments. ‘That was tough because it was a chance to get to a final,’ he says.

‘I’ve always treated every Cup game like a game you have to win. I would always rather be a good league team than a good cup team, because if you finish well in the league it means you have done well all season.

Why is he disappointed? He got to a semi. He should have been cracking open the champagne. As we all know, getting to semi finals is what it's all about.
