Right back to getting beat against any team that isn't being relegated eh?

Just like last season, beat a couple of the bottom teams and people believe he can turn the team around.

As for a cup run, fantastic. Keep him on the basis of that, only good managers have a good cup run, you know the the ones;

Roeder, redknapp, Bradford manager, milwalls manager, Southampton manager that year, David moyes, tony pulis, mark Hughes, Brendan Rodgers etc

A cup run doesn't make a good manager, the league does. How anyone on here @davek for example can't see past that is unbelievable.

He'll be fortunate to hang onto his job this summer, but I think he probably will.

Surely the consensus must be if that we're in a similar position around Christmas next year then he has to go? Games like today will happen under any manager, Arsenal are a better side than us. The thing costing Martinez is his inability to beat the sides around us.

....that's just wishful thinking in the short term. If he wanted to make the football decisions he'd have walked away if Kenwright made it a stipulation of selling shares to him.

It really is incredible how a result can change viewpoints. That's football I suppose. Fickle to the core.

Imagine we get to a final at the end of next month. Do you really think the vast majority of Everton supporters are going to look back at a league campaign that didn't get us a CL spot (for a change!) and feel they want to get rid of the manager?

Not a bit of it.

There's money to be spent (apparently) and Martinez wont be leaving without the new owner giving him at least the chance to get next season off to a good start.

I agree it is a shame that one result against Chelsea could change a few fickle people's viewpoint.

Luckily the poll above shows that most aren't like that and maintained their view that roberto is not the man for us

I think that's a reasonable assessment.

The thing costing Martinez is that with this squad Arsenal should be one of the teams around us

What?

We're doing well in ONE cup. We're out of the other one.

We did pretty well to get to the semi and push City all the way despite awful officiating and the worst possible draw. Our home performances in cup and league have mostly been like watching 2 different teams. We have been doing much better in the cups this season undoutbedly so we have reason to think we could still get ourselves a trophy, which would also mean European football.

That's what I meant. It probably shouldn't have been that hard to work out really.
