Roberto Martinez discussion

Same Howard who bought in Reid and Gray? The squad has to have a balance. Unfortunately I think the good senior players in the current squad (Jags Baines) don't really have the loud characters to lead the others. Tuis squad could do with a Ferguson or Cahill type (dare I say Rooney) to show them how to win until the likes of Ross and Stones realise they have to do it themselves. Same as Fergie did with Cantona and Keane to guide his youth players.

Aw Mate, I have already been kicked from one corner flag to the other. Have to be a bit careful now or I will be jumped on again.

Some folk should go back into the past and read up when Howie started as manager and the way he got stuck in.

Yes and is Martinez not doing the same? You can knock him for lots of things but he's made Stones McCarthy Ross and Rom the spine of the team.

Hold on. Released?!???????

You want Jagielka, McCarthy and the others released. Bloody hell.

Now come on you are just picking out names to suit your wee rant against my posts. Did I say all at once?

You look at the names on that January out poll and tell me I am way off the mark with the names I mentioned.

If you'd just have out the usual Gibson's and Pienaar's and such I wouldn't have even commented. But you included actual good and important footballers which is mental.

Then add to the fact you want them released from their contracts which would cost millions in compensation.

Unreal.

So why is he and the club bending over backwards to getting Pienaar and Gibson fit and giving the others extended contracts. Her we go, McCarthy is he that good? difference of opinion on his thread.

Which ones? Well released is another way of saying let the contracts run out. Do you honestly think Hibbo for example should have been given a new contract, or Pienaar?

why would we not want our players in a condition where they can play?
extending contracts is cheaper and more reliable that getting a new player in (notice I didn't say better). Any player coming in is a gamble, with extensions you know what you're getting and can use the money elsewhere. Come on this is easy stuff.

What do you think Hibbo could offer in a training role bearing in mind his playing career, hardly stepped over the halfway line!

Worth bearing in mind the likes of Ferguson, Mourinho, Rodgers and a fair few other top managers were never elite players before proving themselves.

Maybe in years to come we could add Hibbert to that list.
