Roberto Martinez discussion

I'm pretty certain I saw Osman look directly over at Martinez to suggest he should be taken off. This was around the 70 minute mark. I think he did this again at least once.

He continued to soldier on, blowing out of his arse for 11 minutes losing the ball cheaply several times through tiredness which could have cost us the game. With what felt like the whole ground shouting for Osman to be taken off, Martinez just stood there, even with Ross Barkley on the bench warmed up and ready to come on. Even Moyes wouldn't have done that.

I just don't know what it is about Osman. Even when he wants to come off, managers keep him on the pitch.

Making the double change right after we scored as well. Couldn't get my head around it. I know the sub had been planned, but it wasn't the time.

Blues have been screaming for about 2 years to have barkley in our team and not for osman being there. at least bobby does occasionally drop osman and seems to mainly play him in the advanced role not in the centre in the thick of it. the reason why he was looking to the bench was probably because he's skipper and the manager gives instructions to the skipper.

i wasn't at the game though, so can't say, just an opinion. osman should never have made the 80 mark though, not sure anyone would say he should be there

I am a fan of Martinez, but it amazes me how much football Osman is getting at the moment. 81 minutes today and he stank the place out 2nd half, he couldn't keep the ball at all, and that is what he is supposedly good at. He should have been the first change made today.

he clearly has huge role in keeping the whole shebang together. He's the pilot. And im drunk.

What was Martinez's reaction to the goal? Anyone got images/gifs?

he pulled out an inflatable sheep, pointed at the cardiff fans and started mounting it from behind , whilst sticking up two middle fingers from behind his back, backwards towards craig bellamy on the bench.

is rice bobby, you racist ted

What a glorious sight that would have been

56 points on the board (48 at this stage last season). Unreal for a first season in charge at this club.

I wouldn't bet against us smashing right through Moyes' best ever 65 points total with 9 games to go.

We're not playing great at the moment but we are getting that 'won't be beaten' feel about us we had through Autumn and up to the New Year. I can see us hitting the 70 point mark. Incredible if it happens.

Theres a few games this season that ive thought, 'We would have drawn or lost that last season', yet we've won them this year. Im with you, can see us getting around 70 points this season, so thanks for leaving certain players here, David, but Roberto quite clearly knows how to manage them better.

When you look at the season so far in overview and you forget the incidentals of what could and should have happened, our 'slump' has been confined to a remarkably small part of the season. It really starts with the Derby defeat at Anfield and extends to the cup exit to Arsenal. We lost 4 in 7 games in a six week period. Dire stuff, but we also managed 3 wins in that period too!

Let's face it: if Liverpool weren't pressing a claim for the title and we're having one of their usual underachieving seasons Everton's efforts would be being applauded loudly right now. That's understandable, by the way. But we're on the cusp of a run in that I think we'll pick up a lot of points from and I reckon we'll demolish the club's previous PL points total in the process. And that's something worth shouting about. If it happens then Martinez should be feted for it. It'll have been a magnificent first season in charge.

Also, one thing I've noticed, bar alcaraz who was injury prone anyway, we seem to have players coming back from injuries quicker and less mystery injuries where no ones got any idea whats wrong with them. Really important with a smaller squad.
