Roberto Martinez discussion

OK. You read it all in less than 120 seconds. Of course you did. You didn't even come to an accurate conclusion on what the article is based.... You can get that much from the last paragraph.

I read it. Thought it flagged in the middle, but I was really surprised by the ending. I can't believe Internal Affairs were setting them up all along.

Hold on though, a source tells you the very dramatic news that 'a director' has had 'a word' with Martinez about his game management...and you dont think to ask which one of these men has interfered in the football side of the club?

I'm sorry, I find it hard to believe.

I think the name of this 'director' is absent from the proceedings because anyone viewing it will burst out laughing trying to picture a scene where it happens.

I mean, come on mate FFS...one of these idiots standing there telling a PL coach who's won a trophy and taken Everton to their best ever PL points total standing in front of him telling him where he's going wrong and what they'd do in the same circumstances?

Pfffft!

Been out today, but I "heard" that last Christmas Martinez was taken to task by the hierarchy, along the lines of "This is Everton, not your Wigan play thing". Growing pains if you like.

The bit with horse back riding and the yellow alien shaped like Belle from Beauty and beast with gastons voice was the weirdest bit, but I must admit it did shed a
Different light on Martinez.

I heard one of the directors burst into his office with a list of every bad result we've had since January. He started whipping Roberto with a belt and saying "This is for Leicester, this is for Stoke.."
That's one hell of a long beating he took no wonder he stands in that technical area as appose sit.

There is a sea change going on. No team fears playing anyone any more. Which teams are going to the Emirates, OT, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, the Etihad or White Hart Lane or Goodison and quaking in their boots. With the exception of Villa and probably Sunderland most teams are having a right go.

I look forward to the Spurs game as I think it will be a right good game of football. By heck January is a big month. A Capital One cup final appearance beckons. I booked my hotel at Wembley back in early September and have the train tickets. The only thing I will need is a ticket.

I love this post -- not least because it made me say "oh FFS why haven't I booked my bloody hotel yet just in case -- is it because I wasted 200 quid on Europa League final tickets? ... probably plays a role but you can cancel hotels ... I should try to find a hotel now."

I agree with everything but this is the internet so here's the one part I don't agree with: I'm not sure about this "sea change" part that everyone is buying into these days. Writing off the powers that have dominated the game for decades now seems optimistic. I worry the only difference about this year is that they didn't realize prices have gone up. Is Stones still here if it was 60m (60 is the new 30)? That's what's about to happen in my opinion -- they will just pay more. This is a gap year and they didn't realize the impact the extra money would have -- they won't be messing around this coming summer and this whole "teams don't have to sell" lark is going to get a real test.

If you had to bet on the top four in the league next year, serious money, would you really not go for City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal?

Last Christmas? That'd be a strange one for an Everton hierarchy to jump in on and say 'this is Everton not Wigan', given that Moyes had us with the same points total in 2008/09 and 2009/10.

Maybe they pulled Moyesie and told him 'this is Everton not Preston' at those points?

I take all this 'insider' stuff with a ton of salt, tbh.

Not in a venomous way, more a steer/reality check. Chimed with all the other stuff at the time. Decent source; pretty sure you know him, or at least know of him.
