Roberto Martinez discussion

I remember the venom you used to spout my way when Moyes was here and we won a game, and I would say something positive about him.

You must be mistaking me for someone else.

(apart from anything else, I have never "spouted venom" at a person on a message board in my life)

I never had a conversation with your good self about anything on here until the heated debate about whether or not we should give Mr. Moyes a rousing send off in the last game or send him packing the minute he announced he was joining United at the end of the season.

I was firmly in the latter camp and I think subsequent events vindicated my stand.

Our exchanges after that and into the next season were along those lines.

But that us by the by.

If I had have ever had a conversation with you about Wee Davey during his tenure here it would have been very much along the lines of unconditional support and admiration for his work during his first five years.....wavering support in the three or four years after that.....and a belief that the club needed rid of him to progress during his final couple of years.

In short, Mr. Moyes had been here over nine years before I wanted him out.

That is in no way comparable to my support of Bobby now as the fellow had been here a mere two and a half years and IMO has the team and the club in a much better place than even our most successful ever manager had us after he was here two and a half years.

Feel free to trawl the archives to find owt to contradict anything I have said re our posting history on this forum.

Now please let's try to keep the conversation current and not converse about conversations which never occurred in the first place and which belong to a different era any old way :)

Cleverley was the wrong choice as he got injured! How can you say he was the right choice? It falls down either way for Martinez here. Either Cleverley was being rested in which case it was stupid to bring him on with 70 mins left to play, or he was simply dropped for a rusty McCarthy. Either way this doesn't reflect great on Martinez. His refusal to use the midfield resources on his squad has left him with an injury crisis.

Cleverley's goalscoring threat? He's got one 50p header to his name since he's been here. Osman had about 5 seconds on the pitch this season and still scored one. I think Besic and Gibson are of the suitable international quality required to be used properly as part of the squad rather than overusing other players. If Martinez doesn't rate them then why did he buy Besic and why does he keep Gibson around? If he does rate them then play them.

We are the entertainers though. You don't have to ask her, that is what the people, I talk to in Hull about football, call us. They love the way we play.

Saying a player was the wrong choice because he got injured is incredibly silly unless the manager is in possession of a crystal ball.

All those world renowned football experts in Hull eh.

Lucky they've got six fingers on each hand to count all the goals we concede and points we drop

And with the seven fingers on the other hand count the goals we score. They would need 9 fingers to count the goals concede way from home and 19 on the other to count the goals concede at home. Why can we defend away from home but not at home? It's a puzzle. Do you think we practise hours and hours before the away games and get well drilled but less before the home games and not so well drilled?

'I've spoken to people in Hull and they say we are good' has to be the funniest justification of current results from the desperate I have ever seen.

Well done Peter Pan @hullefc , this is top stuff.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/3158560.stm 2003 - Hull voted worst place to live in UK.

Hull takes first place in the poll - decried by a former resident as "a sad story of unemployment, teenage pregnancy, heroin addiction, crime, violence, and rampant self-neglect".

But boy, do they know their footy!
