Roberto Martinez discussion

How long do you give a manager who is massively under performing given the resources he has at his disposal?

That team on paper should be smashing Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke.

Saying a player was the wrong choice because he got injured is incredibly silly unless the manager is in possession of a crystal ball.

With that logic no lineup by any manager can ever be questioned because we haven't got crystal balls. Playing 2 games in 3 days is always brings with it a fitness risk. Like I said, if he had rested Cleverley for fitness reasons then it was silly to bring him on. If he had just dropped Cleverley then it seems unfair to drop a player playing well to accommodate one that didn't look fit (McCarthy).

I'm sure like everything else in his tenure though the two injuries will be put down to bad luck with not one percentage of blame going to the manager's selection decisions. The unluckiest manager I know.

Does that mean we can have a defensive minded manager back. I'm finding it difficult to get an answer to this question. Why are we one of the best defensive sides away from home, conceding 9 but at home not to clever, conceding 19? Do you think Martinez has them on the training ground hour after hour getting them well drilled before the away game. But for the home games doesn't?

Seems like you need to answer your own question. Rather than picking and choosing maybe just take the defensive stats overall. If I had to guess? Perhaps a bi-product of the more negative approach we have taken to away games? But then shutting up shop for a few 1-0 wins like Newcastle doesn't fit with our 'entertainers' tag does it from heavyweights such as Georgie Bingham (I'm still laughing now).
