Roberto Martinez discussion

We were 2-0 up in the first place, that's good isn't it?!!

Be my guest mate: wishful think a new manger in:

1/ it wont happen because RM is safe as houses
2/ you'll get some dullard who'll bore the arse off you with a few hard fought 1-1 draws and a load of defeats.

Me? I'll stick with most sane people with an entertaining developing team, thank you very much.

Not if a takeover happens

We had it won. The ref cheated us. It really is that simple.

There's actually simpler....we were winning two nil.

Then we were winning 2-3.

And it still wan't killed off.

That's as easy as you wanna make it really.

And, respectfully, do you not see a pattern....

Surely the most dissapointed are the ones who want us to win the most? They're not angry for no reason, we lost points today just like we gained them V city in midweek....no reasonable Evertonian would blame Mike Jones for us winning only 18 in the last 60 games. Would they?

It's been a constant stream of excuses this season.

Ian, we've shown we can go toe to toe with Spurs, Man City and Chelsea and are disappointed with the results, we should have won today and also beat city by more in the cup game.

We arent far off. Perhaps your frustration is because you can also see how close we are?

More experience for the young lads, a couple more players to come in and a lot to depart and were nicely setup for next season.

The next 2 seasons are where we will shine, @davek has also said similar and thinks a cup win and 8th is fine this season i think?

At the start of the season i would have settled for.top 10 and the team developing + top 6 next year and top 4 the year after....i think weve done well with Galloway and Besic and can see what we are building...

Have some patience...

I HAVE sat through plenty of crap football over the last 20 years and I agree that the football is easy on the eye, but we have given up too many leads and drawn too many games.
Ok, so what is it you're saying in essence?

You cant accept a draw against a team with that quality away from home? We've picked 4 out of 6 points up off them this season...they're in a poor season but they are the English champions.

3-2. That would make it a win wouldn't it? I don't think it gets much simpler.

He buys an 18 year old right back for the future in Holgate and now he wants another right back for the future with this leeds kid, why don't you buy some proper players to improve the team you bad lightweight and excuse making tosspot

Don't think its excuses. No one likes us losing but the development in footballing terms has been a great success and that in itself is giving belief to some of us that we are very close to slugging it out with the big boys. I have said before and I stand by it that I would rather see us fail trying to do it the way we are than having a team that goes into a gunfight with a knife. The type of Footy we are playing now is the only way forward we just haven't got it right yet and are not far off it.

Reported.

Ok so I've had a run that has clarified my fume. Wish we had a player in the middle of the park who is in his prime and is a winner, who just expects our team to win every game. Feel like Lukaku has that kind of mentality but we need a Peter Reid or Roy Keane kind of steel in the middle of the park. I know Barry has won stuff but he is just focused on breaking up play: an aging pro quietly going about his business (which he does well). Besic and McCarthy are great but have limited experience with winning. I imagine locating this kind of player let alone affording him is near impossible. Not going to blame these lost leads on the manager, but the terrible reffing decision cannot blind us to missing steel in our team. Perhaps a cup win will forge those kind of leaders but I imagine Rom must be wondering whether this team can ever get into Champions League and the facts are he would now walk into any team in the league, so it is going to be hard convincing him to stay if we are 8-11th. He goes and we are a seriously impacted team (even though he didn't score today).
