Roberto Martinez discussion

Right, so we play another good minute, the goal is offside and now it's confirmed their manager is the reason the extra time was played.

I'm not really in the mood to slate the manager tonight. As far as I'm concerned, he and the team did enough to win today as long as the rules were followed even remotely closely in those last seconds. If we draw against Swansea as well we can be upset with him, but not tonight. If you get officiating like that going against you in the PL you're always going to do well to win. Our form's been decent lately and we're playing better. We should be two points better off and celebrating a great win. He's even slated the ref in public, which was nice to hear.

Channel the anger and humiliate Swansea next week.

Hope the ref is not another corrupted one next week.

I tell you what mate, if you sat through the dire football served up by the rubbish Everton managers who preceded Martinez you'd cherish everyone of these performances.

As said earlier: the dust will settle and people will accept we were mugged by corrupt officialdom again....which is EXACTLY what happened here. Sorry if that's an inconvenient truth for some, but a truth it is.
I HAVE sat through plenty of crap football over the last 20 years and I agree that the football is easy on the eye, but we have given up too many leads and drawn too many games.

That's missing the big picture. We're developing and we're fractions away.

If you don't see and accept that then there's nothing to talk about really.

With respect Dave the big picture I assume is the development of the squad and playing style. If we carry on as we are, the backbone of the squad may want to leave for champions league footy, not mid table.

I have no agenda, I like the manager, but if you are not worried about our defensive frailty it's you that's not looking at the big picture.

All about being an Evertonian
53 now and it has always been the same
At my funeral i am telling you they will make a mistake and play walk on instead if Z Cars

Bad luck is in our DNA

i followed us since 96, i've had [Poor language removed] all to actually enjoy. watch out for another crap piece of luck for bad officiating stopping us from getting to the league cup final

2 lovely worked goals and a beautiful cross, vs one hopeful punt, a scuffed deflection and 98 minute offside goal. imagine spending 100's of millions to still have too rely on all that luck

Well there's the difference then mate: you seem to be happy with finishing a solid 7th when the bigger picture is that we develop this team and cut out the nonsense for the future....primarily by getting rid of the GK.

I can't take all this seriously to be honest. It's pure knee jerk. I had thought you were a cut above it, but sadly not it seems.

Oh well....

Not when I see Leicester with champions league football.

It is farcial.

Beautiful comment. Chelsea, the worst team hundreds of millions can buy

The last goal shouldn't have counted. How is this Martinez's fault? I remember a time Evertonians supported their team.
What about the defending for the first?

We keep making awful mistakes leading to goals, who is at fault there or do we just accept we have a terrible defence and will never get anywhere?

I agree - big picture, those results on paper don't look bad, they look quite good actually, it's just that they could have been so much more, which is frustrating. The thing is, IF Martinez can sell guys like Stones, Rom and Delboy that they have unfinished business here, convince them the best place for them next year is in an Everton shirt, we can build on this year into truly something special. I just hope and pray they don't bolt in the summer, that would be a shame. We are so close.

Just wanted to add in @steven and @hullefc

I think with the entertaining football we are playing then we are getting extremely positive media exposure and our manager comes across so well that we are "likeable". The money these days is in TV revenues and, living in Asia i can tell you that goals win fans here. Man Utd have alot of fans not because of their marketing but because of their style of play under SAF AND their marketing.

If we can keep building with signings like Byram, and add in a LW, GK into the 1st eleven and competition at ST and LW also then we look vry strong indeed.

Continuing this style of play with the kids evolving, new players adding balance and guys like Besic and Galloway getting valuable game time it sets us up for the next few seasons and also additional exposure which means higher demand = £££.

Regarding Lukaku and Stones i think both will sign new contracts before the summer as long as Martinez shows we are moving in the right direction and promises them 2 big signings to come in.

Surely the most dissapointed are the ones who want us to win the most? They're not angry for no reason, we lost points today just like we gained them V city in midweek....no reasonable Evertonian would blame Mike Jones for us winning only 18 in the last 60 games. Would they?

It's been a constant stream of excuses this season.
