Roberto Martinez discussion

so...how do these sections show this acceptance of mediocrity that you see?

and how are those who dont accept showing it?

How about talking about how many games we haven't lost instead of how many we have won? Or blaming the age of the squad when Spurs currently sit in the CL places with a younger one than ours? Or maybe the classic blanket ban on criticising martinez that certain posters have? Or maybe even those who were proclaiming that we should have been happy with 11th last season and that we shouldn't even be aiming for top four because how on earth can we compete with the financial might of Leicester city...?

I would say those that are not accepting of mediocrity are probably the ones point out how few games we have won, or those not happy with letting leads slip every single week and who don't think 11th is an acceptable place in the league to have spent the last two seasons...

Once again your bitterness proves you agenda
No fault of the manager today, if anything he got everything right
Individual error and poor decision by linesman cost us
The team was positive with two wide men
The two substitutions were positive as we wanted the 3 points as opposed to defending 1pt
I know you have your agenda but your bitterness is truly toxic

When the dust settles, we will look back on today as Lady Luck not being with us

when does it ever shine on us? never see anything like this happen to the RS. The sport is an utter joke with how it's run.

Beat City + 3 draws with them+Chelsea and Spurs.

Personally i think those are very good results.

Bad luck in a lot of games this season, a young team which is evolving and some shocking decisions...

If we can get 3pts vs swansea and get through against city i think we will start to go on a bit of a run.

We WILL finish in the top 8 and hopefully get into a cup final. Next year we will start to look like top 6 candidates and the following year go for top 4.

If we manage to keep hold of Stones and Lukaku it will be a miracle.

Making the same mistakes as we did last year. We have wasted a hell of a chance this season with the league (even the title) wide open. I worry we won't have this kind of opportunity with a squad of this potential for a long time.

I agree - big picture, those results on paper don't look bad, they look quite good actually, it's just that they could have been so much more, which is frustrating. The thing is, IF Martinez can sell guys like Stones, Rom and Delboy that they have unfinished business here, convince them the best place for them next year is in an Everton shirt, we can build on this year into truly something special. I just hope and pray they don't bolt in the summer, that would be a shame. We are so close.

I love the way we play Football now. I would complain if we had spent 200m over a couple of years and were not in the top 4 but we haven't and never will under this board. Therefore I am very satisfied and love watching us now. Great football is a positive and progressive step and if he can find that balance (or gets given plenty of money) then who knows what can happen. He has been here 2 and a half seasons and now we serve up some lovely football that the media and neutrals appreciate more than most of our own. That to me is the first step to any attempt of cracking the top 4.

And the crowds are coming back in droves and selling out every game, that in itself is the seal of approval for what this team is doing. This highly entertaining football team is going to take us to the next level.

B/c of the money in the league now, the gap is closing. The big teams can't run away with it any more. Times have changed, this year isn't a blip.

Can't agree more.

Right, so we play another good minute, the goal is offside and now it's confirmed their manager is the reason the extra time was played.

I'm not really in the mood to slate the manager tonight. As far as I'm concerned, he and the team did enough to win today as long as the rules were followed even remotely closely in those last seconds. If we draw against Swansea as well we can be upset with him, but not tonight. If you get officiating like that going against you in the PL you're always going to do well to win. Our form's been decent lately and we're playing better. We should be two points better off and celebrating a great win. He's even slated the ref in public, which was nice to hear.

Channel the anger and humiliate Swansea next week.

I hope these rumours about starjumps back to the MLS has legs, him out the side would make a world of difference.

We at least have a run of winnable games in the league now and we're in the drivers seat going into the semi

I can cheer and be made up when we score but 1 minute later i just know that our goal will not matter coz 9 times out of 10 we are going to crumble and throw it all away, just happens over and over.

I find that more sickening than blaming the ref for everything.

It's great we play such entertaining football.

It's great we have a decent squad of young players.

It's pants that we hardly win football matches and that we are a mid table outfit despite all of the above.

Let's hope he flukes a cup win, it will all seem worthwhile then.

If we win the cup it will certainly be no fluke.

Yes we have talented Young players and they are still learning. We cannot go out and buy ready made class players we have to make them class ourselves then we have to try and keep them away from the vultures.

Yes it is pants we are mid-table but as said above we have young inexperienced players that are still learning but you can see we are in the making of a very good footballing team if we can hold off the vultures.
