I'm just sick of reading such negativity when i was brought up on getting behind the manager....

Alot of these posters seem to think we deserve to be champions or something...its tiring.

what happened to the "dunkirk spirit"?

Some people like to win football matches while others it seems are quite happy either way as long as they see goals.

We get behind Everton football club and what's best for it. If people don't think the current manager is the best for the club, that's a perfectly fine position to hold. I personally wouldn't put myself in that bracket, I am on the fence a bit with the manager. But I wouldn't chastise anyone that thought that, as long as their intentions were for the good of the club

Apologies, seriously.

I just am so exhausted seeing so many anti martinez posts...

we should all get behind the manager as he wins the league (cup) this season and sets us off to the champions league next season.

its coming....

I despair now with some of our fanbase as simply there appears to be a culture being built that we used to mock Liverpool and Newcastle supporters for.
I was a firm believer in what Moyes done and what he tried to achieve, I supported him as he give what he thought was the best for the club.
In Martinez we have a young manager who is still learning, but is trying to give us a brand of football we have all craved. I look at the team and the youth set up and this isn't something that wasnt going to be completed overnight, what he is building could become special.....alternatively it could end up as nothing, but at least we can see what he is trying to complete.

I for one am willing to support and wait for the success.....

I must admit, that's sometimes the impression I get from some people. I might be getting it all wrong, but that can be how it seems.

Personally, if I just wanted to be entertained and see nice togger being played I wouldn't bother supporting a particular team, I'd just watch whatever game I fancied on my totally legal don't know what you're talking about box. I like watching boxing for example, but I don't affiliate myself to a particular boxer, I just enjoy watching a decent match up. Same with golf, tennis etc. When i'm watching Everton though, I just want us to win. I put a fair bit of emotional (and financial) investment into it and I do find it pretty difficult to walk away from another 28 goal thriller saying 'Well yeah we lost but wasn't it exhilerating?!'. I'd take a 1-0 win with a wind assisted block tackle from our own half being the only shot on target any day of the week rather than a repeat of Stoke.

i wish that was the case
I say that as that is the simple approach, but we have a fanbase that isn't happy about anything the Club do.
Look at the fume over Byram, it wasn't the Clubs fault he chose WHU but in some people's eyes it was.

I agree over opinions but surely balanced opinions are acceptable not some of the toxic opinions you see posted

Support the Club...should be easy

Moyes proved mate that it isn't always the case.
It wasn't the case before Hicks and Gillette, Sheikh Mansour and the new TV deal conspired to blow the doors off the old Big Four, but since then teams have been in with a serious shout of CL football right up until May.

To say that there's no point attempting to keep up with the chasing pack is ludicrous.

That's me as well mate, and to be fair most blues I know. That's why I've asked previously how people felt when leaving the ground etc. cos you can't hide emotions like that, and so often for the past 2 seasons it's been the same frustration.

I'd love to know the make up of the people who don't seem to care either way.

More importantly though, about 'that box?'

my post was in relation to is 5th a sign of chasing the top 4.

Don't think in any of the seasons we finished 5th under moyes did we look like we were 'chasing' the top 4, more just overtaking the teams above us until the season ran out.

I can see what you mean't by that mate, but @Carlito made a good point, even just scraping 5th at the end of the season is a damn sight closer to 4th than 11th is. And if you're sitting down with a player in the Summer trying to convince them that you're serious about getting Champions League football, it'll be an easier conversation bridging the gap from 5th to 4th.

yeah im not arguing against that haha He said originally finishing 5th means we were in contention for the top 4 or something like that, where i was saying under moyes that was never the case, we were never any closer to the top 4 even points wise no matter if we finished 5th.

Same as moyes second season. We were never going down but we finished 17th, so same principle applies. Except not at any point did we look like we were getting relegated, just slowly dropped to that position over the course if the second half of the season

I see what you mean, but to be fair in Moyes's last season (when we were actually 6th) we did look like we might do it for a bit. We had away games against Spurs and Arsenal in April which we drew, wins in those and it would put have us in the top 4 at the time. It was actually a pretty similar season to the next one, only the Arsenal win did put us above them in that season and we just blew it slightly later. The eventual difference from 4th was 9 points in 2013 and 7 points in 2014.
