Our players dont know who the hell is operating in the centre with all the chopping and changes and we need them to know for sure what the drill is when we get it to feet in that area. Is it going to be Eto'o looking to take one on and go for a give and go; Naismith who'll pretty much just lay it off straight away wide; or Barkley who'll turn and run with it?

If I was either side and ahead of that mess I'd be in despair.
 
Barry did not look 100%, and although physically he may not have matched up well I think Osman was the better choice there at least for today. As it pertains to wide players, Barkley needs to start playing behind Lukaku, the fluidity between Ross and Eto'o was alright at times but after the first Spurs goal everything went downhill from a tempo standpoint.

Spot on last season we had a winning formula and he's moved away from it to play his favourites. Injuries can't be blamed as he had 3 wide players on the bench today.

He needs to stop thinking he's Jurgen Klopp and stop fannying around with the side and get back to his best side.

His post match quotes wind me up aswell. Even under dour moyes atleast he would bollock the side and they would come out the game after with a kick up the arse. The 2-0 win over city as testament to that. It'd a concern we haven't won any of our matches against our rivals this season. That to me is a worry
 
Expected a rocky season in the league with the additional European games.

But obviously I'm a fool and we should be blowing everyone out of the water every week.

I'd be worried if he was saying this in private to the players but I'm not arsed about him playing the positive game with the media.

I suspect with the recent Distin rumours that he is actually prepared to challenge them when they've been gash - I just hope that when he does make mistakes himself (like today with team selection / tactics etc) that he learns from them.

Our best performances last season were away from home when we had Barkley, Lukaku, Mirallas and sometimes even Deulofeu all breaking at speed on the counter. They all knew the routine and they settled into their task.

Wolfsburg was an echo of last season's good work in that respect.

If it aint broke....

Obviously he doesn't as he had 3 wide men on the bench today mate and still stuck to sticking barkley out wide.

only if you dont count the fact we had won league cup and fa cup matches during that period, in fact we were in the semis of the league cup at that point.

I can only think he felt we had the bulk of play going toward their goal for the last 15 minutes and didn't want to interrupt the flow.

It's not for the first time this season either tho. Earlier in the year there was another match where everyone was dead on their feet and he didn't make the substitutions. Lat year he made substitutions at halftime and changed everything. This year he's predictably crap. It's beyond frustrating at this point, it's to the point where I'm questioning his managerial nous..

But Barkley and Mirallas have been injured and are not quite up to speed yet. That is why we are a bit disjointed at the moment. Martinez has a choice. Tentatively bring both or one of them back or take the plunge and bring both back to get match fit and we go from there. The 'routine' has been unsettled because of injury.
