Roberto Martinez discussion

We're five points off 4th place.

We've suffered a stupid amount of injuries.

We're top of our Europa League group with a game to spare.

Some of you need to realise we were never going to consistently match the performances of last season when going from competing on one major front to competing on two. It was always going to take time to adjust.

We've had a tougher run of fixtures than most and yet we're only five points behind a team who've spent a hundred plus million in the past 18 months and are only competing in the league.

I'm not worrying about relegation just yet.

But then people are entitled to question why we are being served turgid [Poor language removed] like that. There's a huge difference between last season and today's performance.

Mad how this thread pops up after a defeat, as someone mentioned 8 games unbeaten before today, now all of a sudden the world is collapsing again

What we need is more efficient and effective vaulting on this site to keep future meltfests under control. We all need a good vaulting from time to time.

Agree with most of that. It still doesn't excuse clueless team selections like Barkley out wide though.

I'd like to see how the current flavours of the month, the likes of Southampton and West Ham would cope playing 2 games a week, 1 in Europe.

Guess what? Swansea played in the Europa last season too. Where were they at this time last year? In 12th place, with 15 points.
Tottenham did too. Where were they this season last season? 9th with 21 points.

Where we are right now is somewhat par for the course, made even more certain by the bad injuries we have suffered.

You could say this for the next how ever many seasons if we want (and do) stay in Europe. How we going to adjust then, bigger squad? Cos the injuries will keep coming if we play more games due to cup comps. I wouldnt say it was because we've had a tougher run if fixtures, id say we threw the Arsenal and Palace games away and shouldve got a result at home to Swansea, particularly when they had ten. So we should be a lot higher to be honest.

Thursday night was one of the most impressive results an Everton side has recorded in a long time. Yes today was highly frustrating, but we are 5 points off fourth place and juggling constant injuries, we'll be sound and Martinez is the right man for us.
