Roberto Martinez discussion

It's a results based industry and we are only three points ahead of Bournemouth..... equally confusing is we have the 6th best goal difference in the league.

It is really hard to tell with Martinez, slightly flawed but almost very good manager or just lucky he inherited a good squad and has a 20 goal a season striker.

This is the season to judge him on results - good squad - full transfer windows to do with as he wanted, didn't loose any players and a shaken up league with many in different performances. He's got till the end of the season for me, FA Cup and 5-7th fine, mid table nothingness and he's gone.

This time next year the pro lads will say the season after shall be the time we prove him.

I doubt they will.

The goalposts have moved with Moshiri coming in because we may well have the finances, both for the managers wages and the squad, to attract a better manager than Martinez.

So, on the assumption that he'll get another season, if he doesn't deliver in 2016/17 I'm reasonably sure he'll be replaced.

Nope. I actually said from the start he needs 3 seasons to move out the deadwood and get his players in.

after the first season i was elated but still said the same and at the start of this season said it was transitional and i would be happy with 8th.

Not surprised me at all mate
8th would be great. We won't get 8th and frankly we don't deserve it. We aren't even deserved of top ten at present. There are a few of you on here who by hook or by crook are going to defend martinez whatever the results. I would actually admire your spirit if it had merit. He has to go next season for me. Hopefully the new investor will be more swayed by results than after match speeches.

Hopefully Moshiri will pump cash in this summer. But if he cannot setup a defence even Messi cannot help him.

Never thought i'd see an Everton manager have a 1 in 4 win ratio at home, averaging a 1.6 goals conceded and fans are still backing him.

It is because, for some unfathomable reason, we are absolutely awful whilst also being absolutely brilliant, all in the same game. So while I dont "back" him, I struggle to think of someone available who could continue the great stuff, but sort the nonsense.

And at times these last 2 seasons, Martinez has sorted the dross. Last Christmas/winter/Eto stuff, the last 5 games, (11 1 or something), Howard dropped. He is not an idiot, nor a manager who serves up dull football, (wish he would at times!), but he has, to me, a fault line.

And what is so annoying is that that fault line is pretty easy to righten imo.

It's hard to defend a manager that has lost 7 home games with that squad.

We are mentally and tactically weak and that comes from the manager. Sack him now and get someone in who can have time to look over the squad and start next season fresh.
