Roberto Martinez discussion

But how many times in the last 15 years have we seriously been threatened with relegation? 03/04...

Wigan were down there every season

2 of the 4 seasons before Martinez became manager they had finished 10th and 11th, so actually better than we currently sit int he table mate :D

And to answer your question mate... no I wouldn't.

For the reasons I already said though I don't think it's exactly the same.

If we were scrapping against relegation year after year it may be different

Mate from 97 to 02 when we finished 15th, 17th, 14th, 13th, 16th, 15th i can honestly say the only thing that mattered was the team staying up, any fan who would rather the team dropped down to win a cup is demented really

In fairness your decision to not include the 2003 season seems like a very similar tactic.

i just gave a ten year period prior to the season i was talking about mate, never actually decided to alter figures in those seasons did I? Could easily have just shown the first two seasons as well with Moyes and highlighted that unlike Martinez the only bad season Moyes had as a manager was followed by his best - something Martinez has definatley not done, plus anyone who can't see the world of diference between Moyes first three seasons and what he had to overcome and martinez has a short memory, we where royally in the [Poor language removed] when Moyes took over, Martinez took over a very stable Everton

Another load of bull. Does he really understand our frustrations, I think not. No mention of his mistakes or getting it wrong in all those games.

Still an arrogant person in my book, never at fault is he?

Cleverley?
Niasse?
Funes Mori yep
Lennon yep
Bringing Galloway into the fold?
Bringing Browning into the fold?

Deulofeu has improved.
Lukaku has improved.
Barkley has improved.

So he's bringing in players and improving our players.

And yet he's making no difference?

What?

And let's not overplay the Spurs card. Hes got one of the best keepers in the league and 2 seasoned CBs playing in front of him.

Throw a superb keeper at this side and see what happens. And you will. In 6 months time.

The point is that Martinez has been working with the core of the squad for three years and we are still a tactical shambles. With Moyes the issue was always lack of quality and strength in depth. Issues which can be overcome with money. Bobby could spend 100 million and not improv our results because his tactics are the issue.

Moyes was limited by his mentality. Don't forget that .

We were never in any trouble that season though, Toff.

We reached in the region of 36/39 (I think) points with a good few matches to go but hit a form slump and picked up little over the closing matches.

As we sunk down the table the relegation threatened teams were so far behind they would have needed snoopers to catch us.

We finished six or seven points clear of the 18th placed team IIRC.

If 12th is better than 6th, because 6th gives you Europe footy, then I guess the same applies to 5th. So his first season in charge was a failure according to david

So that's why he hated Moyes, because he kept getting top 6 and burdening us with that pesky European football
