Other than Scots he is the first 'foreigner' to manage us, he has got to be better than Walter Smith, Mike Walker and Colin Harvey so lets give him a chance. TBH we did need a change, Moyes has proven one thing, he wasn't capable of winning a trophy, be that his fault or a shortage of cash it doesn't matter his tenure will always be questioned because of the lack of silver ware.

Martinez wasn't my choice but at the end of the day a huge percentage of supporters was always going to be on a downer no matter what, anyone of the list would have only represented a minority view. Suck it up lads and lets move on for the good of the club, there is sweet sod all any of us can do about it other than to support another club, after 60 years a blue I'm, staying what about you:o

Johnny Carey was our first foreign manager.

You shouldn't just blindly support the club like a lemming

Sometimes if you care about something, you'll speak up when you think something isn't right. I think I care just as much as you do. If you want to suggest I don't because I'm worried that we've paid 2 Million to bring in a man who relegated a team from the Premier League, then bully for you

Wigan were as good as a championship side anyway and he did well to keep them up as long as he did after lsing star after star every season and not being able to replace them with anyone with half the quality!.

I might not agree with everything the board do or decisions they make, but i wont start saying they'll relegate us now, were fcuked, cos thats not what i want for us so why think it?!. Back em, get behind em and see!.

It's not the threat of relegation that I fear most (although it's genuinely more of a possibility now imo) but moreso the fact that Martinez just doesn't seem the man to take us forward.

He *may* get us playing better looking football than we did under Moyes, but I can't seem him being as successful in the league. His record is poor. He just ain't a 'winner'.

no point mate people arnt arsed that we could lose our best players and become simply another mid table sunderland/fulham aslong as we play pretty football

Praise the Lord,
Moyes has gone,
Martinez to the rescue,
hallelujah,
"I've seen the Promised Land, I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land. So I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord"

mate i wanted change and am happy we have it! but have my doubts about the choice of the replacement! so being normal i come on a forum to express my doubts just like you came on to express your excitement if you have read the last probs 100 pages you will see that pretty much everyone is saying they will get behind him!

but people expressing there doubts are "doom gloomers" "having a shocker" yet not one person with doubts about the appointment has said one word against the excited!!

so i'm wondering who's having the shocker!

you are sexy when your riled Foz:D

Well I'm optimistic. I'd have picked Pereira, but can understand why it is Martinez.

Reading this article below really gave me a lot of heart about Martinez, he sounds like a massive student of the game:

Looking forward to the coming season. At least we might be a lot more attacking, and I doubt the defence will be that much worse. As things currently stand we'll have 2 of the England back four playing for us.

Totally agree with this.

And a big factor I think many are not considering is the atmosphere at Goodson under Moyes. Unless it was a big game against Utd/ Chelsea/ RS/ City and we were able to go backs to the wall, the atmosphere was ordinary.

Against any other team we turned up and were uninspired. I am a Moyes fan but this was true.

Under Martinez, if it works out, we will go to play teams knowing we will try and play good football at a high tempo.

Exactly, how many times udner Moyes did we go into games, even at home, to try and stop the opposition, focus on them and on how to not let them dominate and take control of the game and if we can, nick a goal or 2 and defend the points?!.

Loads of times over the 11 years with Moyes in charge i wanted us to take the game to teams, i felt we was better and that we should make the oppostion worry about us and yet we worried about them!. Knife to a gun fight and all that.........

I hope with Martinez that mentality as long gone and we go into games looking to play and take games to the opposition!.
