The race for 4th spot was lost during October, November and December when we drew about 7 games in a row, mainly due to having Osman and Neville in midfield and drawing against the likes of QPR, Fulham and Stoke.

We under performed in such games, and Everton were and are more than capable of beating such teams and bridging the gap between us and the top 4.

I'm trying to get used to a manager who smiles.

He's a happy chappy isn't he?

I read The Executioner's Bong's article on him which was brilliant as always and I was impressed to read that he's got a degree in business studies, but more so that he's a fully qualified physio and had a lot to say about how he feels every injury is preventable and so on... It made me think of the horrific injury list we always seem to have (maybe it's just because our squad is so small) and how he could help.

EB's articles, like I said, are great. They're usually fairly serious but he caught me off guard with these few lines yesterday and had me in stitches:

Hold on, didn’t whale head Steve Bruce and even less well renowned operator Paul Jewell finish higher at Wigan than Robeeeeeeerto?

Well, in league terms yes they both did. Looking at the 4 seasons RM has been in charge compared to the previous 4 campaigns under Bruce and fellow fatty Paul Jewell

That was 2 days after he had joined Manchester Utd yet still allowed to take charge of Everton, if that wasn't enough he had ran down his and his club captains contract so his new team wouldn't have to pay a carrot in compo for either of them. No wonder he is smiling
