Rodwell's Off

How very true, but for a laugh lets pretend that we do...........go on just imagine that we do..........its been a long time I know but really search those memory banks...........its there in the furthest recesses of your mind I promise !

I think I was in nappies the last time we signed a player, mate.

I think Roddy is going nowhere.
We should have some spare cash from Pienaar, etc. plus I have faith in our management that they can keep their tight budget. So if they're racing Villa for N'Zogbia (which is good!), that does not necessarily mean that anybody is off.

A thing that I don't get is why we don't really look for players in other, maybe lower-seeded European leagues. I know that the PL is a different world and players need to adjust but the premiums clubs pay for PL players is unrealistic and stupid for what the players are actually worth. Come on - Rodwell at 20M'ish? You gotta be kidding me. Carroll ... don't get me started on how much the sh**e overpaid on him.

We should bring in some talent from Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Holland maybe, Croatia ... we could get really good players for a bargain that might need a year to adjust to the PL but could be sold for at least double the price we bought them. Look at Shaquiri who I rate better than N'Zogbia for 10M EUR from Basel (plus, he's only 19!) ... He could be the next Luka Modric ... or Dragovic (Austrian) who also plays for Basel for 2,5M EUR who could add competition for Jags, Distin and Johnny. With 2,5M, there's nearly nothing wasted for a national team player who is very good. Ki from Celtic could also be the next Felli at 2M from Celtic.

No need to sell Rodders if we'd take a bit of a gamble and look across the mighty PL.
I like this post. Shaquiri reminds me of a young Van Der Vaart. Possibly more skillful.

Its not that i don't rate him, he's a good player, i'm just not buying into all this ****e that he's brilliant. He's had bad injuries for the past couple of seasons, and at the back end of last season when he was out we played our best stuff, could be coincidental but it proves we can do it without him.

Off the top of my head.... Moussa Sissoko, Yann M'Vila, Sami Khedira, Lassana Diarra, Ever Banega, possibly even Sandro and Cheikh Tiote if they push on like last season are all better and could be bought for cheaper than you suggest we should sell Fellaini for, a few are younger than him too. And thats ruling out the more experienced DM's who are valued higher and are more reliable, the likes of Nigel De Jong, Javier Mascherano, Daniele De Rossi.

So don't try and tell me Fellaini is world class. If a panel of Football experts, coaches, fans or whoever were to write down the 10 best DM's in world Football, he certainly wouldn't be in it.

Maybe I am blinkered mate, but I would have Fellaini over most of them. Can't really say anything about Sissoko or M'Vila - haven't seen enough of them. But Tiote, de Jong and Sandro better than Fellaini - do me a favour! Suppose it is all about opinions.

If it is a choice between Rodwell or Fellaini going (please not both) it is Jack every day for me. He seems to play within himself (confidence issues or tactics), but on the occasions he has shown everything he has, he looks unbelievable. He has definitely got all the tools just needs to believe in himself more.

That's quite interesting.. Is there any history about removing of jerseys by Everton shop in history? I mean, when was Lescott or Pienaar removed from shop?

Think it's a bit harsh on Tubey for labelling him a wind-up for what quite clearly was a predictive post based on him reading between the lines.

So we are basicly out of the race for him.

I would be ok with Adam Hlousek from Jablonec (Czech Republic), he is decent player, he was highly rated on his loan in Kaiserslautern in second half of last season.

Fellaini has the potential and attitude to be whatever he wants really, he just needs to do it over a longer period, and continue to improve. I don't think it's going overboard to suggest he could develop into one of the better players in his position. His style is very unique and when a player can combine sheer size with good composure, it's a very difficult player to stop. Michael Essien had major problems competing against him last season, and he's one of the best athletes you'll come across in football. If he could do that over a full season I have no doubt that people would take notice, I think people where starting to last season before his injury.

All this being said, he's not there yet, and he still has things he needs to work on. A little more consistency against the smaller teams and his positional sense and defensive awareness need improvement. He wins alot of physical battles and breaks up play well but he can be caught flat footed at times. I tend to agree that's he's not the be all and end all either, we could get by without him, and like Rodwell, he's always a saleable asset if worst comes to worst.

I'd love to see him develop though, along with the likes of Rodwell and Barkley.
