How’s Trump the most prominent fascist in the world? Haha ?

Well he's a fascist, surrounds himself with hardened Nazi's like Bannon and was President of the United States. He was/is the most powerful and dangerous fascist in the world. Shame on all of those who turned the other way, or posed for pictures with him to give him the allure of normality.

So given that black athletes rightly point out, with a fascist in the White House and business very much not as usual, would you say sports teams who chose to break those calls and pose for pictures with him were engaging in sports washing? You didnt seem to give a definitive answer on that.

I think more broadly, it's clear politicians and American Presidents who have all presided over a racist country try to use sports stars to soften their image. That is sports washing isnt it? Or is it only sports washing when it's a brown person doing it?

As for turning heat up on owners, I hope the heat is turned up on American owners the most (particularly those who have made donations to the political parties who have caused the destruction from warfare).

But in truth, the game needs to start again. Independent regulation, 50+1, golden state for an independent arbiter and a commitment to make the game more equal from taking from the haves, and given to grass roots and womens football. The whole system has to change.

We have allowed the capital that has been built up in football to be purchased by American, Russian, Middle Eastern etc individuals, who try to wield soft power. The money theyve given has just gone to make agents and footballers richer. It's a disgrace really, and it's time for a reboot.

I hope we are not bought off again (as we were after the super league debacle) with highlighting a couple of the brown owners for some sanctions while pretending the rest of the game is fair and working well.
How is that sportswashing i don't understand, having a photo op with a democratically elected leader is deemed sportswashing?

None of those sports teams are government owned, hahahahahaha by a ruling class elite of theives who hate democracy.

Do you understand what sportswashing is, bizarre.

You keep comparing sportswashing with america, i don't understand why when there are are owned private citizens lol.

Abramovich was tied to the hip with Putin, he vetted his cabinet when he became president, he bought a english Pl club to insulate him from Putin and his crimes of robbery and a murderous campaign with his private army to take over aluminium plants.

Anyway....seems you never watched the video i mentioned.

Here mate.

Sportswashing is the practice of an individual, group, corporation, or nation-state using sport to improve their tarnished reputation, through hosting a sporting event, the purchase or sponsorship of sporting teams, or by participation in the sport itself. At nation-state level, sportswashing has been used to direct attention away from a poor human rights record and corruption scandals within government. While at the individual or corporate level sportswashing is used to cover up and direct attention away from said person's or company's vices, crimes, or scandals. Sportswashing has been called a form of whitewashing.

That should be the end of it back and forth now, after the video and this definition finally you should understand the term "sportswashing".

OK. So essentially when white American, fascistic leaders sportswash it doesn't count? You have again shown your inherent racism here.

It is the textbook case of sports-washing, because it is trying to use the credit and popularity of a sports team to normalise/improve his image. Hitler used to do this. It's fascism 101. Black organisations and individuals asked sports teams not to do it, because they know, it is the dictionary definition of sports washing.

That you are too racist/inconsistent to note this, says everything about you, and why people shouldn't take your bleating seriously about Brown people being x,y or z. It's motivated by racism.

As a final aside, you don't need to keep posting a video of that right wing fruitcake Matthew Syed. The man who attacks the left and tried to blame "woke" (i.e educated black people) are the people to blame for the actions of a white despot. Why is he suddenly the go to man to judge moral fortitude, when he clearly has none of his own? So yes, I watched the video. It is nonsense, from a racist, right wing man.

I'm genuinely stunned you have reduced Donald Trump to the phrase "democratically elected leader". That's an absolute disgrace really.

Don't "mate" me when you describe Donald Trump as a "democratic elected leader" like he's a perfectly normal, decent human being.

Trump is an individual, who is part of a right wing/fascistic group who were using sports starts to improve their tarnished reputation. A reputation based upon stopping migration based on ethnicity/creed, building illegal walls, building camps for children, separating children from parents, holding children in camps for their only crime being that they were not white and were travelling to America. He had his armed supporters try to seize power by force, take to the streets, murder anti-racist demonstrators etc.

This is the epitome of "tarnished reputation". He held an event where he met famous sports teams players, owners and stopped for selfies. So that's the event part.

At a nation state level, he hosts these events at the White House, the seat of government, with the intention of making out he and the state he oversaw is perfectly normal and not engaging in the aforementioned human rights abuses. As previously indicated, Hitler did exactly the same.

At an individual level, he uses high profile sports teams, to cover for his appalling conduct.

I could give more detail. I'm very open to you trying to explain to me how you think Donald Trump, meeting sports teams at pre-organised events on State property does not fit the criteria? Or that you don't think his human rights abuses don't exist.

You are either stupid, racist or a bad faith actor. I don't believe you to be stupid. It's an absolute disgrace though, that people like you are able to freely defend scumbags like Donald Trump and their appalling conduct.

If I were looking to buy A football club I wouldn’t touch Chelsea FC with a 10 foot pole. When it comes to players, how are they even going to get paid with their current contracts? Financial suicide for any new owner I reckon.
The only way would be to sale a few in the summer hoping that they would hold their value so that you recoup enough to have a solid squad. Currently it is not sustainable what they have been doing without strong financial backing.

The interesting thing is, outside of a couple of clubs, none are sustainable

The strange whataboutery we’re seeing from Chelsea fans is all a little bit much, given the war crimes executed by the Kremlin. It’s obviously galling for their fans - not their fault - but the manoeuvring of the UK government has nothing to do with football. Chelsea aren’t being subjected to some weird conspiracy.

The oligarchs’ presence in the UK is ending. Seems a good move.

Football-wise, nation-state backed club ownership is obviously vile. City and Newcastle next please.

Haha, throw around the word Fascist enough and Chuck in racist too! Plonkers like you will believe it?

Putin probably said way in advance…use a frontman.

Roman thought he was joking, Alisher knew better..

Nope. My point isn’t whataboutery. Whataboutery is a non-sequitur moral equivalency that seeks to draw attention away from the issue in question while placing something else in its place.

I’m not seeking to do that. I’m making a wider point about club ownership that doesn’t stop with Chelsea when considering the state ownership of Newcastle (Yemen bombing human rights violators) and Man City (abstained on vote condemning Russian invasion).

You're using semantics to dance on the head of a pin.

There is no difference between Chelsea fans saying that there's an inconsistency between a government doing business with oligarchs while punishing them and you saying given that if Chelsea are to be punished then so too should other clubs funded by different monsters. Inconsistency is what they and you are pointing out.
