Does the UK not have any billionaires or something ? Mad how there are never any British people looking to buy clubs
I see w/o the Russians you have a decided lack of billionaries in the UK. If that is the case then by all means please adopt this racist @#$%stain fambly from my country.

Good article from Le Saux.

This part applies to Everton too....

“The government felt the need to sanction oligarchs but I don’t think they have the first clue about the impact on fans and on everyone that works at the club, from players to the coaching staff to the backroom employees,” says Le Saux.
People are very quick to stick the boot in when something goes wrong – that’s part of the ‘banter’ of football. So I’m not surprised some Chelsea fans feel confused by this. It’s not about them being the victim; there are people being shelled, this is not about football fans. But they have woken up from one day to the next with the club they have supported for however many years in complete turmoil."

Ricketts group have pulled out, seems they were going to leverage buyout the club and one of the rules was they had to promise to use their own cash and not a LBO, amazing as well as the guy backing their consortium is worth $26 billion, Chelsea days of being a sugar daddy club are over, the other Yanks (Boehly group) are the favourites now and said they will follow a sustainable style to running the club.

“The Ricketts-Griffin-Gilbert group has decided, after careful consideration, not to submit a final bid for Chelsea FC,” read a Ricketts-led group statement to @pasport.

“In the process of finalising the proposal, it became increasingly clear that certain issues could not be addressed given the unusual dynamics around the sales process. “We have great admiration for #ChelseaFC and its fans and we wish the new owners well.”

Loved how the Chelsea fans were against the ricketts but out because of “islamophobic comments” by the family patriarch, yet at the same time were lamenting the human rights abusing Saudi government had bought Newcastle too soon. The real issue was they feared not being sugar-daddied.

If a prospective owner was a war criminal who had literally murdered people it wouldn’t matter to that lot as long as he funnelled in hundreds of millions a year.

Roman moving the goalposts, last week he wanted an extra £500 million added to the sale price and now he's not writing off the debt Chelsea owe him and now he wants that £1.6 billion debt to be paid back to him now.

The sale of Chelsea has hit a serious obstacle over fears that Russian-born owner Roman Abramovich is attempting to renege on his promise to write off a £1.6 billion debt.

It is understood that Chelsea told the government — as well as the rival bidding groups — last week that they want to restructure the way the club is being sold, which would include paying off the debt from Chelsea’s parent company Fordstam Ltd to a Jersey-based company Camberley International Investments, which appears to be linked to Abramovich.

There are big concerns about allowing that to happen when Abramovich has been sanctioned and has had his assets frozen. Ministers have been under the impression that all proceeds from the sale would be given over to the government to be used for good causes, including helping the victims of the war in Ukraine.

Last week the consortium led by Todd Boehly, the co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, was informed by Chelsea’s US bankers that it had been given a five-day period of exclusivity as preferred bidders.
But sources from the rival bid groups said it was only “days” before that decision was taken that they were informed that the loan, which is in trust in Jersey, needs to be repaid on the sale of the club.
