Having a player of his stature should be used to attract players of a similar caliber.

Actually the board see it as 'job done' and go after Kone Niasse and Valencia as backups to him.

More than happy to allow clubs like Spurs overtake us the real winner is the board as if they get 7th they have the European tv money to pocket in addition to the TV money

Kone was here before Lukaku and Valencia is only a loanee.

And the notion you suggest of aiming/settling for 7th purely for tv money for them to pocket is, in my opinion, farcical.

Only PL team I could see him possibly leaving us for is United when Zlatan decides to pack up and head to MLS. They will need a top striker because Martial doesn't look like he'll be there much longer and Mourinho doesn't seem to like Rashford.

City don't need him, Chelsea probably wouldn't pay the money for him and Arsenal certainly wouldn't. No German team has anywhere near the dosh and I really couldn't imagine a player like him going to La Liga.

Rom will be here for a while yet I think, whether he likes that fact or not.

Oh I hope you are right :-)

Oh I hope you are right :)

He and his big mouth agent found out in the summer just how limited his options really are despite his talent. If ever there was a time to leave us and not look like a bad guy it was then after finishing 11th (again) but they were stunned to find there was no concrete interest from anyone because of the asking price. There is precious few clubs who could afford him and those who could will probably have other targets anyway. United want Griezmann according to many in the media, City could but he definitely doesn't strike me as a Guardiola-type player, Chelsea maybe at a push but would they prefer to tie down Costa? Arsenal, especially if Wenger stays, will never spend anymore than £40m on one player.

Chelsea also have the additional expense of funding their new stadium to the tune of 500m+. If they wanted lukaku by now (either last summer or this window) he'd be there by now. I too think they are looking to morata.

contract won't be signed at the moment as Everton are demanding a 65 million release clause which his agent is not agreeing to!!! This contract is not to keep Lukaku its to make sure Everton get the correct money for him in the summer
