Romelu Lukaku

Amazed people are still speculating about that injury.

In the newspaper today it said that he'd been struggling with that injury for about 1.5 weeks and he also has a bit of a cold so he was allowed to go to Belgium (like everybody said). Apparently he's at Neerpede where he'straining and doing some stuff with the RSCA U19's.
Remarkable, there is no ulterior motive and no cloak and daggers conspiracy to get Rom sold to the highest bidder. Who'd of thought it.
This will hurt certain peoples agenda.

Erm....there was an offside rule actually.

Fair play.

Thought it was introduced much later.
Was previously there but was even more harsh. Had to have 3 players (inc keeper) in front of you to be onside. changed to be less harsh in 1925 to 2 players including the keeper the same year he joined us apparently.

Had no idea myself but if the first result on google is to be believed:

You're right, Rom is a sublime talent, and Everton and us fans are lucky to have him. But he's not some mythological unicorn.

There are other young strikers who are as capable of scoring goals as Rom, many of whom do become available to clubs like Everton all the time. Most of them won't reach Lukaku's heights for a variety of reasons, but if Everton want to be successful, they have to identify the right players and develop them.

Arsenal have no trouble getting to the Champions League with Olivier Giroud leading the line. If Walsh and Koeman (and Unsworth) perform at their best levels, Everton can get there with a striker just below Lukaku's level.

i don't think many are tbh. I do believe rom is a bit of a one off, especially given the place we were when we got him. We're a different kettle of fish now, of course.

But you see 19 year olds like gabriel jesus, batschuayi, isak etc. They all seem to be getting attracted to and picked up by these top teams for massive amounts of money after the slightest glimpse of them showing promise. Some seem content to buy just to loan to make a profit, but the prices teams now pay for such players is ridiculous imo and does seem a lot more common than 5 or so years ago.

Sorry for going off topic.

To bring it back on, that Cottee was a lazy bugger aswell, wasn't he?

And just like Rom, he was forgiven all of his sins whenever he scored.

Ask Sharp -
GS- There were a few lazy ones including Tony Cottee if we'd lost and he'd scored he felt job done whilst 'muggin's' here was running all over the park. In his book he says people did not pass to him at Goodison, load of tripe, it was him who did not give enough to the team.
