Romelu Lukaku

It's not good business.

We won't replace him with someone better, and he could go to a direct rival.

If we want to not 'be a museum' anymore, we need to be keeping our best players.

Losing Stones and now Lukaku is not doing that, is it?

How would you propose we keep him ?.......

Mad that he said on Sunday that he wasn't signing a deal and yet this has still come as a shock to some
It's not mad. The fella who reported it is no more influential than Jim White, so why is it ok to believe one and not the other?

At the moment the forum is full of angry people, some can't show it so the try to goad other Evertonians. Almost passive aggressive anger.

Don't be.

We won't be able to find a like for like replacement for Lukaku. However, that doesn't mean we will be weakened. We will have money to buy 2 lesser players that can actually chip in with the same amount of goals as he would, and they may bring more to the team in other ways. We have relied too much on Lukaku in the past few seasons anyway with his good luck with injuries.

Lukaku is a top top goal scorer and deserves to be playing for the best clubs in Europe. He has given us 4 good seasons with plenty of goals but we're now in a position to move on and strengthen when he leaves.

There are only 2 or 3 clubs in the World that can hang on to their star players. Look at where Spurs are now compared to when they had Bale. Genuine title challenge last season, probably about to get in the top 4 again, and in the Semi Finals of the FA Cup.
Those words could have come straight out of Davie Moyes mouth.
Plucky little Everton.

This is the point entirely. If a player wants out, they want out. Nothing we can do to stop him, short of holding him to his contract and having a sulky player not scoring and worth buttons at the end of it. If he's certain he wants out, then we get as much as we can for him. It will be a bidding war with Europe's elite queuing around the block to get their hands on him. With a player like Rom, it's a seller's market.
