Romelu Lukaku

At the end of the day, he has 2 years left. Champions league is still possible this season, Europe league very possible. If we get champs league, he will be happy. If not and we keep improving at rate we have this season, top 4 is more than possible next season.
Him signing doesn't change a lot. Refuse to sell him this summer and don't offer him anything else. If he wants to move, he has to play and play well next season and could result in us getting champs league. If he does a payet then he is a snake and just treat him like niasse got treated. Yeah, selling him will give us a big lump sum, but him firing us into champs league has longer term financial benefits. Just don't sell him and make him play another season and then see where we are. If he still wants to go, then sell him. But the 2 years he has left is vital as we can still get a year out of him where he has to perform to get a move to a top club.

If all else fails, [Poor language removed] him, we will have niasse :P

Those words could have come straight out of Davie Moyes mouth.
Plucky little Everton.

Sorry for being realistic. Since our FA Cup win in 95 (a season in which we were pathetic in the league), we have done very little of note in the game.

1 top 4 finish
No trophies
11th last season
No seasons playing in the main CL competition

We've been plucky little Everton for the past 25-30 years and until we start winning things, going far in the Europa League or getting in the top 4, we will always be viewed as a stepping stone to get to a perceived 'bigger club'.

With Moshiri behind us, I think we can push towards that, with or without Lukaku.

Whenever it looks like Everton are gaining traction, something inevitably happens to halt it

We are just incredibly unfortunate. It's like an invisible layer of unlucky gunk coats us and no matter what we do we just can't wash it off

I keep hoping the tables will turn, and they never do

It just grinds you down over the years
Chin up mate. We can come through this stronger. Less than 12 months ago we were all convinced he was going last summer and most of us weren't even arsed. We'll get a great fee for him which, I hope and expect, to be re-invested in the squad on top of what we were going to spend anyway. It gives us the finances to get around FFP rules on salaries.

Don't want Rom to go bit there's some really good young strikers out there that could be the Roms of the future and we're the bstt destination for them

For me this is a bit of the failings from the summer transfer window coming back to haunt us. Id put off the talks now until the summer. Go lut and get 2 or 3 top players signed early as soon as the window opens. Pre sogn them.in may if possible and then try to get him to sign the new contract.

I do think with the right signings we could push for 4 and / or win the europa next season to gain entry to the champions league.

Getting the stadium announced would make a big difference aswell. That cannot wait until after the summer. We need to convice players we mean buisness.

If you think about it, if that supposed release clause is too low (for the clubs liking) then he could go this summer even though he may have signed a new deal. If my understanding is correct, there's no such clause in the current deal. So, theoretically we could turn down offers we're not happy with.
If we can, we need to try and keep him one more season to try and break the top 4. If we sold him next summer we'd still get a decent price surely. It'd be a gamble though because he could 'down tools'.

Last season we all knew this was his last with us he won't stay another season now.

Can't see us getting 90m for him, so whether he signs with a 70m clause or not, he'll be gone in the summer for that amount anyway. Two decent players could share the goalscoring for the amount we could get for him, just hope Ross isn't thinking of going as well.

Getting a replacement is gonna be the hard part. Pretty sure we'll get a fair few bob for the big oaf (I'm pee'd off with him right now), but who do we get in to score his goals.
