Correct.
Wouldn't see the point/need to make another announcement saying the same thing.
He either signs or puts in a transfer request (as he is clearly being tapped up).

That was exactly my thinking. No need to make a second announcement for something he has already stated! So he must be signing!

That wasn't an announcement - it was a one word "shut up" response to a reporter.

Truth is nobody knows how this is going to go, but my view is that he won't sign one unless a release clause is in there, and try to drag it out to the summer to see if a bid comes in that is feasible for him to leave.

My thoughts too. It wouldn't be smart for him to sign a contract right now, and the reporters were just trying to get a response out of him and he gave them a "good" soundbite. They would be trying to sell him whether he stays or not, and if the right offer comes I would expect the team to let him go.
