Romelu Lukaku

Didnt Stones had over 3 years on his contract? thats a big difference.
Also, i think you are clutching at straws a little bit on the Lukaku situation, its quite clear that he wont sign a new contract i think, he may not go this summer or even go to Chelsea, but i very much doubt that he will sign a new contract. Not because you guys are not good enough or anything, maybe he just wants a change.
Why am I clutching at straws? Lukaku will have 2 years left on his contract in the summer.
If he doesnt want to sign thats fine,he stays for at least one more year or Moshiri decides to cash in to the tune of 100m+
He in the meantime is losing [Poor language removed] loads of money not signing a new contract.
New players will be arriving in the summer on decent contracts which will leave Lukaku as one of the not lowest paid but certainly way behind the top earners.
Can him and his agent afford to do that? or does he throw his toys out the pram?
Whatever the outcome it will be what Keoman and Moshiri want.....

Conventional wisdom says you can't let a player like this run his contract down and get nothing for him in 2 years. But if you're not hard up for cash (as we aren't anymore), a smart fella like Moshiri has to ask himself "Is Lukaku worth more than 100 million to Everton over the next two years? Because if so, you keep him and let the contract run down. Everton with Lukaku have to be considered as in the running for top 4 next year based on our form in 2017. I don't have the latest figures but how much is that worth to the club even if he goes for free in 2019?

Would you rather have Lukaku in the side or 100 million cash that you won't be able to use on a like for like?

Agree and factor in how much will you get next season if he doesn't sign
It may be less or it may be the same.
If he scores 30 goals next year in a hopefully better Everton side and has a decent WC clubs will still be queuing up for him at 80 million if not more

The contract biz will ultimately mean nothing anyway.

If the right offer comes in this summer then he'll go, if not he'll sign a new contract, double his wages and leave in 1-2 years time.

But yeah, you're right if it did come down to it I'd rather let him run the contract down as long as he keeps banging in 25 a season for the remaining 2 years.

Thanks

Not really, Hazard probably has ambitions to play in other clubs, hell, Lampard once wanted to go to Inter Milan, but that doesnt mean that he will go or even push for it, as he is happy at Chelsea and his family is very settled in London

I wouldn't put too much faith in Atcheba if I were you. I don't rate him as a journalist, he always tries to be a sensationalist. Also why would Hazard say anything off the record to an idiot who goes blabbing on about it later on (he has that reputation; him, not Hazard). Better of watching the Telefoot interview.

I think the issue is that Chelsea, for the last ten years, didn't have any players that Real Madrid really wanted. It is what it is. No worries though; Perez will probably pay a world record transfer fee.

Agree with this - 100 million is a hell of a sum in today's market...in 2019 judging by the current increases it'll probably be enough to get you Andy Carroll!
By all accounts we have funds available, we are a much improved team who can challenge top end and have the best striker in the league currently - if we can break the top 4 then Rom may even sign a new contract - if not..we'll have had another 2 years from a top striker
who will need to keep his levels high if he wants a move anyway

De Gea had signed and all was agreed and the paperwork never arrived in time.
City with the Arab money are a law onto themselves and Aguero never wanted to go
And apparently neither does Hazard, plus, 100M or whatever they are going to offer for him( which is going to be rejected anyway), is nothing to Abramovich or Chelsea has

This is what he said: "If he would have giving me another answer I wouldn't have mention it at all so (off the record) but he gave me the same answer on & off so I can share it :)"
If you dont wanna take his word for it, take HLN's then, they want Hazard, that much is clear, but you are underestimating Chelsea if you dont think we can keep him.

*Searches HLN*

This is the Hazard article you're talking about: http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/923/Sport/...il-je-me-in-de-problemen-brengen-of-wat.dhtml .

It doesn't say he won't leave Chelsea. The main conclusion is that he's keeping his options open.

They are quoting his interview with Atcheba.... the dude i am talking about is Kristoff Terreur, he follows the belgian players on the PL, but anyway, this is a Lukakud thread, so enough of Hazard

Agreed sorry for going off-topic. The thing is I am from Belgium and I read HLN and the rest of the Belgian press and I didn't read anything where Hazard said that he won't go to Real. He's keeping his options open and that's that. (the article was from Terreur btw)

About Lukaku: I think he'll stay. There's a lot of clutter about him in the media atm. The latest thing I read was about him going to Man U; for Rooney and quite a bit of money. This on the condition that Man U get CL, they would also buy Mertens (but for Mertens there are other PL clubs in the mix; they think 50 percent chance he'll leave) to appease him. I hope he stays.

I know our league top scorer of a striker still divides opinion on here but he's made the PFA team of the year. Who in the league could replace him in that PFA front 2? Even though his first touch and general play will never be drool-worthy, the goals scored this season alone make him worth £100million this particular summer.
