Romelu Lukaku

There was an interview with Lukaku's brother today; no spectacular quotes when asked about RL:

IV: This also applies to Romelu, who isn't popular with a part of the Belgian crowd.
JL: I know. People Don't like him.
IV: How do you explain that?
JL: Against Bosnia he misses a big chance, people whistle. Shortly after he scores, I call that hypocrisy, booing someone when he misses, praising someone when he scores. It is what it is, but in the end in doesn't change a thing.
IV: Quite a part of the people think he's arrogant.
JL: This is absolutely incorrect ! I am much more arrogant than him. (laughs). RL is modest and friendly. But if Romelu speaks out about his ambitions, then there are lads like Wesley Sonck (average ex footballer) who think that he should adjust his ambitions and shouldn't think he's somebody else (?). What's that about? Why can't he dream? People criticize his first touch, his technique ... If you want to see beautiful football, go watch street football in Brussels. Even Eden Hazard would get nutmegged a thousand times there. Our football is totally different. Romelu's goal is to score, which he does. And still they criticize him.
IV: I think he's affected by the criticism.
JL: He wants to know why people don't support him. If he's having a difficult moment, he gets slated when he should receive support. Immediately the names of Benteke, Michy or Divock pop up.

This is a very quick translation of this:

(lacht) Romelu is bescheiden, vriendelijk.

As they should. Rom seems to think he never deserves to be dropped and that anyone who raises this possibility to rant support him. Bizarre mindset. Play badly and you're out the team.

just read Raiola's interview, sounds like he's calling out certain clubs to make a move. He equally says the relationship with Everton is good and our asking price will need to be met. I still wouldn't be surprised if Lukaku stays and goes next summer for 40m

Imagine the conversation

Raiola: I think you should buy my client Rom, 25 goals for a basket case like Everton don't you know.
Mourinho: I'll send a scout
Scout: his first touch is woeful, interplay non existent, barely works across the line, doesn't compete for high balls, is anonymous away from home, and barely threatens from set pieces. He's a good finisher at home though if you play a certain way. Over his time at Everton though his form and fitness have swung massively though.
Mourinho: cripes, alright maybe we can fit him in the squad if a deal is reasonable. Mino how much?
Raiola: Everton want 100 million, he'll have his lip out if he doesn't play every game at number 9, and we've not even discussed my agent fee yet.

This is why he's played for Everton for 4 seasons and will probably do a 5th next season.

So we have promised him he can go if certain clubs (not club) come in for him.

He can go wherever he likes as long as they pay the asking fee.

Yes mate.
If he stays, brilliant
If he goes and we get the 80-100m being mooted then also brilliant

I'm just hoping we're ready to go when the season starts and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds. Shyting/Wetting myself actually, but putting on a brave face

Or,

the scout reports he is banging them in when the team plays for him and seems to struggle when his team mates decide not to turn up and resort to hoofing 45 yard balls at him hoping he can beat the defence single handedly.

The report could say that in a team designed for his ability he could score even more than he is doing now, and the fact he is getting better every single year, scoring more every year and he is doing that alongside valencia, James McCarthy, an old Barry, teenage strikers on the wing, etc

Whichever way you spin the story negatively, you forget to mention how crap we are sometimes.

Does Raiola read this thread, wasnt it only yesterday or the day before that someone said its all very quiet on the Lukaku front, then he[Raiola] goes off saying his stuff,i just want this sorted soon either by him saying he will stay 1 more year,or say he wants to go etc, this has been boring since march and we cant have this all summer again or even from sep-jan if he stays and so on
