Romelu Lukaku

Tbh I'm not sure if the new sponsors deals are broken down year on year or a whole lump sum. If it's year on year then it's 7 mil + the sponsor deals. plus FM must have other ideas for improving revenue

Most stuff is apportioned by a basis over a number of years.
The crux of the matter is this; should EFC sell both in the same period, the benefit of the profit will only be realised in one future period. Therefore the onus is on the club to sell in seperate periods, should they have to.
Hence trying hard for Rom.

Yes but it makes sense.

We all assume we are looking to bin off most of the deadwood this Summer, deadwood is probably harsh for some of them but im gonna name them anyway McCarthy, Niasse, Geri are the main 1s, we should get fairly decent money for these players, then we have Barkley and Lukaku, neither of which are certain to stay, so the worst case scenario is that we sell ALL the deadwood, plus Rom and Ross, which leaves us vast sums to spend THIS window and leaves us with nobody to sell next Summer from a STCC/FFP POV.

Now somebody could argue that without nobody to sell, it means we cant buy anyway! :coffee::coffee:, but anyway.

i have been wondering about the same scenario as what jinks has just said (about not selling both), that's why i never believed it would happen. I always thought we'd keep hold of rom unless a really stupid offer came in because well, we need to buy 2 or 3 strikers this summer even if we keep him.

But if we did sell both, it would surely mean we'd have to buy about 13 players and a few of them being young at that, seeing as we wouldn't have many sellable assets left to strengthen massively in the next two or three seasons.

We must have about 4 or 5 different plans in place for this summer with regards to recruitment based on multiple scenarios. I still think we tell him he has two years left and he can go next summer because we aint selling this one. If he wants to sulk throughout the season and lose his world cup starting place then that's his decision. We just saw a sulking lukaku bang in 25 last season though. Do that again this season and top 4/a trophy will definitely be achievable should we strengthen how we expect.

You think you saw a sulking Lukaku this season?

Mate, you aint EVER seen a sulking Lukaku.

Which is why we won't sell Rom this summer, we wouldn't be sell Ross if we didn't have to, only reason Ross is going is so he doesn't leave on a free.

We will make a big profit off the other you listed as player trading profits are different.

You buy a player for 30 mil on a 3 year deal...you then devide his fee via the contract length. So on the 3rd year you sell him for say 30 mil you made a profit of 20 mil on that player. So Ross will be 100% pure profit as we never paid for him.
So Rom is 28 mil spread over 5 years so 11.2 mil(rough figures) if we sold him for 100 mil we make a profit of 88.8 mil which we could spend on wages this year.

Im gonna be honest, as much as people think it is, its NOT up to us if Ross or Rom leave, Jinks merely said we are TRYING to keep him, for very sensible reasons.

I think we keep him because he's the best striker we have or could get and there are no financial reason why we should sell him like we would have done in the past.

We have no debt and earned 127 mil for 7th and have far better sponsorship deals.

We are a completely different kettle of fish now

i hope we keep him, as i do with barkley. I believe we can make the 7 or 8 top signings we require funding mostly from the deadwood goat has mentioned above plus all the extra income. But i don't know one jot about any of this financial stuff, so my post is a bit useless

... but i'm hitting the post reply button anyway.

Its another reason why the "we are just spending the Lukaku" money shouts are without merit, theres a chance and I will admit its currently a very small chance, but theres a chance that Rom and Ross both stay. I dont believe that the people in charge would put is in danger by spending money we dont have.

Currently we could assume that the sales of Geri, McCarthy, Niasse coupled with the SKY tv money have easily paid for Pickford and Klaassen with money to spare, we could currently be a crossroads regards do we go forward WITH Rom and Ross or do we go forward on the sales of Rom and Ross.

Watch this space.

Added to Cleverley's sale. Probably at least one of Stekelenburg or Joel leaving.

One thing @The Esk identified was that Everton didn't do a lot of player trading comparative to the rest of the teams of the league. Inflation in the transfer market has gone mad with that lot getting 15 million quid for Jordan Ibe signalling the beginning of last year's window which ended with Spurs paying 30 million quid for Sissoko who they didn't even use. From a P and L perspective it makes sense to cash in on the increased book value of these players we don't want, that all goes to FFP for wage budget increases.
