Who would you bring in,who could more or less guarantee you 20 goals a season?we're clearly having difficulty bringing players in without Europe,
We should keep him, hopefully help us to get into Europe next year then he can go.
When we can then find a suitable replacement.
It's easy, Wilfred Bony, I'm here all week...

To be fair arsenal, man utd, west ham, saints, liverpool, chelsea and stoke all finished above us last year with strikers who scored less goals than lukaku.
For what its worth id like him to stay, providing there is no sulking, but if we could get a couple of players in and share the goals around abit more instead of having lukaku as the main focal point then it could work out better for us.
Nail on the head mate, couldn't agree more!!!

Just read the last 6 pages off topic absolute wham on here.

Can people stick to Lukaku and not indulge people going deliberately off topic.

Shortening lukaku's name to 'Rom' is not offensive. Utter rot to claim otherwise.

He's not being sold. Simple as that. I've said my piece.

Problem is we can't attract higher calibre players at the moment. I don't think selling him is going to guarantee we can get two quality players in.

This for me opens up a far wider question. Here we are 12 days from the start of the season, it seems that there is money yet far from a flurry of quality players being signed there is talk of players still leaving

Ok there is still a while after the season starts to sign players but pre season work tends to shape how a season pans out. Of course there will be time to work on set plays etc as the season progresses but by my estimation if both Lukaku and Stones do indeed leave them it's going to be far from the season many had hoped for

Exactly! We finished 4th with Marcus Bent up front. Couldn't hit a barn door, but worked his socks off & held the ball up.

If Lukaku was scoring goals from nothing, I'd understand the upset, but he's not. Take out the one in the cup V Chelsea & the rest are from good supply. Not taking anything away from him, but let's give the squad some credit eh.

I'd take a 15 goal man, who works hard making the runs that Rom doesn't & links play better, because that would create more goals around the team.

Anyone know the terms we bought lukaku on?? Are we still paying instalments on him? Do Chelsea have a sell on clause with us? if we can get 60 million for him then happy days

I don't know but you have to imagine there was no way whatsoever we would have or even could have paid close to 30m up front. Spread out over 3 or 4 years is most likely. Probably owe around half still, so around 14m. If they are desperate for him, and with our repayments kept in mind, I think they'll try for a fee of around 55m and cancel the rest of our repayments, giving an overfee value of just under 70m. I'd keep him, though. Tie him to a new contract if possible with a release clause that kicks in in a year's time, see if we can snag a Champions League position this season and have him think twice about leaving this time next year.

Spot on, plus why strengthen one of your rivals??
