Romelu Lukaku

and get who in mate?

we're struggling to attract (or at least secure) quality midfield players as it is. We already need a half-decent back up striker. If Rom leaves we're gonna really struggle to get somebody of his level in... even with Walsh's record.

Btw, Musa played a blinder for Leicester vs Barca tonight. Think he may have been Walsh's final signing... though he was known in fairness

My apologies mate ...I have just realised you answered to an earlier post of mine and not the one I thought you replied to.

yeh I know mate, but it's people saying (like they are with Stones) 'he's dis-interested', 'playing for a move'.

If he was playing for a move he'd probably be playing better.

He isn't looking his best because for the last month he's been off in LA pulling chubby birds in stingy night clubs and playing basketball with his new best mate.

He's had a total 120 minutes of pre-season. Simple as that.

Yeah I don't think he's trying to force his way out (he's doing a poor job if he is)

Don't even think he's played that mate, think he'll play more or less 90 against Espanyol.

Dominic King in the Mail, he normally knows what he's talking about when it comes to Everton

Ronald Koeman ready to refuse sale of Romelu Lukaku after Chelsea's attempts to unsettle star striker infuriate Everton
  • Ronald Koeman unhappy with attempts to unsettle striker Romelu Lukaku
  • Everton prepared to take same stance as with John Stones 12 months ago
  • Chelsea confident they can bring former player back to Stanford Bridge
  • Manager wants to keep Lukaku and Everton have opened contract talks
Chelsea’s attempts to unsettle Romelu Lukaku have infuriated Everton, who are ready to take the same stance they adopted with John Stones 12 months ago by refusing to sell.

Though Chelsea remain confident they will take their former player back to Stamford Bridge with an offer of £65million plus Loic Remy, Everton say they have yet to receive any kind of contact — nor do they intend to encourage it.

Lukaku has been agitating for a move for most of the summer, frequently speaking about it, but it is Everton’s intention to keep him and they have opened talks about extending his contract, which has three years to run.

We need to learn how to spread the goals around the team rather than be dependant on Lukaku. That dependency has seen us finish mid table. I go back to the days of Gary Lineker where he was the main goal scorer with a glut of goals yet we won nothing. The next season we spread the goals about and won the league. If we don't have a prolific scorer then we need to adjust our play so we are not too reliant. He will be a big miss if he goes but we have to move on and adapt.

We actually scored more goals in the Lineker season than we did when winning the Title the following season.....acquired about the same number of points and all, IIRC.

And in actual fact we were really struggling for goals until Howard fetched Wayne Clarke in for the run in and his goals seen us over the line.

And in '85 we only scored one goal more than in '86, the Lineker ŷear.

No sir, our failure to win that in between Title was nowt to do with Gary Lineker scoring too often.....it was more about Neville Southall getting injured on a flipping Dublin rugby pitch in a friendly international

(not that Bobby Mimms did owt wrong.....he just wasn't capable of stopping certain goal bound efforts the way Neville could :()

But your point is an excellent one.

We need the goals spread around more.

When Rom's goal output tailed off after Del was dropped and then he lost interest after the Chelsea cup tie, our goal threat was negligible.

I always find myself nodding in concurrence whenever I read your posts mate...another bang-on distillate you've posted there

I really want Remy here cause he'd be a good fit with Koeman.

The 65m wouldn't be bad either. :)

Rom obviously doesn't want to be at Everton so just get rid. He's barely ironed out the deficiencies from two years ago, so I don't expect him to anytime soon. He had all the physical attributes to be as good as someone like Ibrahimovic, but he's still a cut below. Some moments of real class, but sometimes when Everton needed a goal, he would fluff it up.

Who really wants him gone?

Even @Tubey doesn't want that.

Worry more about what we are conceding potentially vs what we are scoring.

I think he's a great finisher but his game limits our play I believe that's why we played so slowly under Martinez, midfield not confident in him holding it up and play breaking down.
Not sure we'd get someone to score as many but believe someone could come in and improve the whole team play.
He'd make a great wide forward but as a target man/striker not a natural runner in behind or a 'fox in the box' hold up play to erratic.
The main thing is if he wants out as with Stones or any other play don't keep unhappy players, players will be replaced team will not fold and tumble down the leagues players are moved on all the time, good ones at that.
