Romelu Lukaku

I have never claimed to be ITK on anything before but have it on good authority from a Chelsea source (I live in London) that Chelsea have offered £70m for Rom and we've said no. We won't budge from our valuation. The guy seems pretty certain Chelsea will be returning with an improved bid though.

I have no other info but if I get anymore I will pass it on.
We won't be selling Romelu. Even if we were contemplating it, it won't be happening with a week remaining in the transfer window and no other strikers capable of scoring a goal on the books.

I hope we don't, just passing on info. I assume if we did sell him we would only do so having someone lined up. I'd guess Bony if it comes to it.

They can bid all they like we can still say no, they could just be dong this to look good or test the water but after what we did with Stones thery know getting a player out of Everton is hard unless you stump up serious money, 70m aint enough this late in the window.

He was his usual self today, looked good when picking the ball up deep and running at defenders or with space, poor when trying to hold the ball up in tight spaces.

However one thing i've noticed before and happened at least twice today was when we got the ball behind the defense in wide positions to be played across goal he often seems to stay near the edge of the area/sitting back for a pull back.

Now i don't havew a problem with that, thats his style and he's often in space and unmarked. But our players don't look for him and play it across goal instead.

Which again is fine, if someone is attacking the ball in front of the goal.

But when our striker doesn't do that either he needs to start doing so, or the players need to start looking for the cut back to him more.

Be even worse when Deulofeu plays cause he loves a hard cross drilled across the face of the goal, and Lukaku is stood on the penalty spot waiting for a cut back.
shame he didn't play vs Tottenham must say

Everton make Romelu Lukaku contingency plan as Koeman admits striker could leave

Everton boss Koeman has already identified a replacement for Lukaku if he has to sell

Romelu Lukaku could be on his way

Everton have lined up potential replacements in case they lose Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Ronald Koeman insists the Blues are still yet to receive a bid for the Belgian but has revealed they have players in mind should their top scorer be sold.

Koeman says he has “two plans - one is with Lukaku and one is without Lukaku” and admits an elite club could make an offer too good to turn down for the 23-year-old.

Everton don’t want to lose Lukaku and have told Chelsea that a bid would not be welcome but Koeman says, together with director of football Steve Walsh, potential replacements have been identified.

Asked if the club are looking at strikers who could fill the void should Lukaku go, Koeman replied: “Yes.”

Before adding: “Of course we have names in mind because if not, that is not good.”

Everton value Lukaku at more than £70m and it was understood Chelsea had baulked at the asking price.

But Koeman admits that if a mega-offer was tabled then it could prove difficult to reject.

“There is a lot of interest in him, we know, he is a good player and finally you can’t win it if really it’s a big team who spend a lot of money for an Everton player or for a Southampton player,” the Blues boss said.

“But I had the same story in Southampton but there was not really that big bid on the table and, still now, there is no big bid on the table.”

Romelu Lukaku and Ronald Koeman during training at Finch Farm on Thursday

Lukaku is hoping to be in contention to face West Brom on Saturday after missing the opening game of the season against Spurs with a heel problem.

And Koeman says the Belgian remains fully committed to the cause.

“I don’t have any doubts or I don’t have one reason to have doubts about this because the boy is working hard and trying to do the maximum to be fit for the team and what happens in the future we will see what happens,” he said.

He added: “We need to wait two weeks more to be sure about his future but he is in.

“He was not involved in training because of his injury but he was in today (Thursday) and he did his first session of training and we will see what happens.”

Everton held firm on John Stones last summer

The Blues refused to buckle last summer when Chelsea pursued John Stones - so does Koeman think the same should happen 12 months on with Lukaku?

“That is a question for inside (the club),” he said.

“I prepare myself for yes and no and that is the best, and we will see what happens.”

Koeman, meanwhile, has reaffirmed his belief that a new striker is required even if Lukaku stays.

“I think we need one more in that position, yes,” he said.

The mirror (I know) saying complete opposite and is on the verge of signing a new contract
Because they were so adamant he was off, theyre now covering bases. I'd take the Mirror article on him going and staying both with MAMMOTH amounts of salt. Mainly in part due to the Mirror being [Poor language removed], and David Anderson knows utterly nothing.

The most official source we have heard speak is Koeman, and he has given the most clear indication he will sell him if money is right (or the club will)
