Romelu Lukaku

I saw a report on NBC Sports yesterday that the MU fans are getting frustrated with Lukaku. He started really well but hasn't scored in 5 games and they showed charts of his passing success which highlighted his passes in the last third mostly going nowhere, though he did cross for goal against Spurs. They are doubting his ability to hold the ball and lay it off to a fellow player and are hoping they get Zlatan back soon.

Who knew?...lol

This season he has had 18 shots on Target, Rooney and Niasse combined have only had 11 on target, Lukaku is on 7 goals, Rooney and Niasse combined are on 8, 4 each, found that interesting, were not missing Lukaku, despite what some people think

Aw come on...Rooney and Niasse are our only goal-scorers for the most part. ManU can win despite a lag from Lukaku since Martial and others can step up...we rarely could win when Lukaku wasn't scoring. I wouldn't compare Lukaku's performance at ManU against [fill in the blank] performance here at Everton. I would compare Lukaku's presence-at-Everton versus his absence-at-Everton. Even when we were terrible he was a threat going forward (18 goals despite us finishing 11th in 2015/2016 for example), and other teams were aware of that. We are obviously missing him in my view.

Would Lukaku have more than 8 goals right now for us though?

That's the thing. You are right that we miss his presence, but I'd argue we're just missing the presence of a competent forward rather than Lukaku. Indeed, I'm convinced that if we did grab Giroud then we wouldn't be in the mess we're in; the difference in balance he would have gave would have been like night and day. But Lukaku? Don't think it would have made that much difference; maybe three points more perhaps. I'd have him over Niasse or Rooney on a one-on-one comparison basis, but that's not saying much really.

Will say it till I'm blue in the face, but we miss Barkley far more than we miss Lukaku.

I like how triumphant in tone your posts are since Man United started realizing they bought a flat-track donkey

Oh don't worry, Lukaku will get his predictable goals through the next three games and the usual suspects will be tagging me in to posts, like I didn't already know he scores goals or something and him plodding his way through riff raff like Newcastle invalidates me somehow.

I have similar struggles here and among my private football chat groups. Even though I constantly acknowledge that he scores goals, I'm alerted every time hits the net. They've been a bit quiet the last few weeks. The same lads who said he would score 30 and United would run away with the league have suddenly gone off the radar

Just had a gawk at redcafe, their thread on Rom is almost a word for word replica of the thread we have for him here. He's either "starved of service" or isn't moving and bullying enough to bring his midfielders into play
