Romelu Lukaku

WBA paid sweet FA for him. Neither did we in his first season with us. Can't remember a lot of fan complaints from either set of fans in those seasons.

We made him our highest ever most expensive player. Almost from the start he kept telling us that we were a stepping stone. That might have made a difference.
thought it was confirmed we outbid wba on the loan fee to get him? somewhere around the 5 mill mark

Another important goal today. There's 4 points in two games they wouldn't have got without his goals. Points they'd likely have dropped without him last season.

Another decent performance as well. Plenty of good touches and running.

Looking back at recent games, he was very good at Arsenal, playing a big role in two of the goals, decent against CSKA, scoring a crucial goal, crap against City and then decent in the last two games, scoring two crucial goals. One in 20 player? Utter, utter baloney.

The criticism he receives is and will continue to be a source of great amusement.
He scored a good header but his general game is poor. He's had a lot of stick off Utd fans, and rightly so, but they should have known what they were buying.

Fair point but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. If he had said in his first season (when he was on loan) that he wanted the big move then we would have shrugged our shoulders. We wouldn't have given him a hard time.
However, once we bought him we maybe hoped he wouldn't diss our wonderful club at every opportunity.

Why? He's scored in their past two games.

Also, was at Bournemouth game, can confirm he didn't celebrate.
They blamed him for giving the ball away in the penalty area twice losing goals both times and generally not being good enough for utd. Guess he has seen some of the quotes and has the hump with the utd fans.

Watch the youtube video posted a few posts before you...

I can confirm, from here, sitting in NY, that he did indeed celebrate.

Isn't it great that we let that fat headed dutch guy run them out of town. Perhaps Lukaku was never resigning, but wow. We let this guy strong arm two talents and now he is the one out of a job. It was just terribly ran.

Players are always more important than managers. That's just my opinion, I'm a fan of enough shitty teams to have learned this. Talent is so much harder to replace, you don't alienate it and just give it up.

But never more important than the club. He couldn't wait to leave, he said it enough while he was here

I agree to an extent... I don't think that it's just Everton is the reason he's leaving, if we were Tottenham do you think he'd have demanded a transfer? The Clubs history is their, the fan base is there, the only thing missing is the recent success.

Then you have a hypocritical manager who is delusional and angling at the Barca gig, when he has no shot. So I'm not going to ignore the fact that we alienated Lukaku an Barkley for a manager we let go of just months after. That's horrible management and that should not be forgotten.

Tbh I think he'd have left if we were Spurs too. He wanted Champions' League and even though Spurs are CL quality I got the impression he was thinking more of Chelsea.
