Romelu Lukaku

If you think Brands can find better strikers for Rom than less than £50 million your living in dream land mate. There are no top level strikers out there that are not at CL clubs and the only ones like Belotti, Werner etc are touted at £80 million+ and are unproven in this league hence a big risk in terms of the outlay. Clubs like Chelsea are also after a striker so not that easy to attract the best ones.

If Moshiri bankrolls him to sign one great but if not we'll statistically more likely to sign another £25-30 million Tosun than a Suarez.

£50 million for Lukaku would be an absolute no brainer. People took Rooney back with open arms who crapped on the club far worse than Rom ever did.

Are you one of the people who still think Rooney wasn't sold?

He was gone at the euros. The club was getting it's loans called and the banks pretty much forced the issue.... remember Bill saying he wouldn't sell him for £40m.... rubbish.

Look at the calendar shoot that pre season.... before the bids cane in and Rooney wasn't even on the individual one. Wore his protective boot had a joke with highest for the team photo and got off.

Rooney gave 100% for the shirt. Lukaku gave as much as he could be bothered for himself.

So you're saying Rooney gave us more than Lukaku?

Come off it mate. Rooney jumped ship at the first opportunity whereas Rom gave us 4 seasons to try push on which we never did.

I have no ill feelings towards Rom - he is a Chelsea fan from Belgium not a supposed top blue from crocky. Yes he was annoying with his belgium interviews but there players all do it, Hazard talks up Real Madrid everytime he's away dont see Chelsea fans demanding him out do you?

Was the post not clear enough or do you need to alter it for your own agenda. Rooney gave 100% in our shirt for the club. He was sold. He didn't jump ship.... United bid low knowing we had to sell and that we did. Does that not make sense?

Rom gave us 4 seasons?? His loan season he was begging for Juve to come in for him. 6 months after signing his 5 year contract he piped up about moving..... how is that giving us 4 seasons? What a disruptive egotistical bell he is.

He was here for 4 seasons and hadn't unpacked his suitcase.

He's a bad apple simple as that.

Once upon a time all of our fans were as proud as our club.... nil satis.

Hazard? Haven't heard anywhere near the noise from him as we did lukaku. Difference is he is a world class player who needs to be playing for one of the top 5 in the world. Lukaku? Don't make me laugh. Can't hack it at the worst United side I've seen in 25 years.

He scratched his arse for fun too right. Rather than just looking at how many goals he averaged why not look at when and who he scored again st to get a real view of this player you think so highly of.....

He only scored when games were stretched... when the other teams had to come at us. Invariably lesser teams. The fact he scored 25 goals and without them they theoretically made no difference to our league position says it all.

So when a player scores goals, and they don't make a difference to the outcome of the game or league position we should just dismiss them, there is such a thing as goal difference.

You're saying 'nil satis', yet you're slagging off someone who was our top scorer for at least 2 seasons. :/

Rooney couldn't wait to get off mate, to suggest he gave it all is debatable when he goes and kisses the Utd badge in front of the EFC fans - doesnt seem like the actions of a bloke desperate to stay and being sold without his say does it?

I dont deny Rom was always talking a move away and it definitely annoyed me as it did yourself, however he still gave us 4 seasons which is more than Rooney did, more than Stones did and didnt cost us £20 million like the other boyhood blue Barkley did either.

Is he my first choice? No if we could sign a top striker like Werner, Dzeko, Rodrigo etc. I would go with them however football has no morals these days and if Roms goals are the difference between a credible top 4 challenge or 7th every season then bring the fella back I say.

"Our" top scorer..... not sure how that is the benchmark for success. Who was gonna be his closest rival niasse?

Funny. He actually thought he nailed the golden boot and stopped trying for the penultimate games and then Kane scored 4..... he tried in the last game against arsenal. Wasn't arsed about us at all.

Hated him even more after that.

Rooney kissing the badge was cos he was getting grief off the fans. He felt hurt so he reacted. Simple. How old were you when all this went on? I get the feeling you are falling for the old press stories. He was sold. He needed to be sold. The club was nearly under.

Current strikers leave me underwhelmed. I'm confident in trusting brands to get us the right player.

No doubt we needed cash, however I still think Rooney wanted out, he's always been about money look at how he used to put stories out of him going to Chelsea or Man City before getting his new bumper pay deals, he's no better than Rom imo.

I agree with you on other strikers, I just dont think theirs better out there that we could attract imo.

Hope we are proven wrong like!

That doesn't matter though mate, supposedly he would have been appreciated more if he had put in more effort than score all those goals.

Saying that though, if he had put in the extra effort instead of scoring all those goals we would have had lads now slagging him off for not scoring more goals!

It's not about effort - it's about intelligent movement, bringing others into play, creating space, benefiting the entire team so you can attack from different angles.

You must be able to understand Lukaku does none of these things?

I can’t reconcile the fury at lukaku but being happy with Rooney . Do you remember his behaviour when he left ? Getting sued by his former Everton manager , failing to thank anyone from Everton for helping in his career, kissing his badge , over celebrating when his united teammates scored and the rest . So Rooney left to save the club ? In that a big court case went on I think it was alleged he’d moved agents and the new fella was already negotiating with United before he’d officially signed on with Rooney . At the very least that was a murky transfer and to claim it was Rooney and streford working to save Everton seems unlikely .

You hate lukaku’s behaviour and I can see where that originates from but to then dismiss Rooney and his behaviour seems a bit contrary.
