Tactically brilliant from Solskjaer today. His team selections have been flawless since arriving - the decision to leave this grock out of a big game was an educated one that his predecessor didn't make.
As I said last year, Rashford is a far better footballer that Lukaku and has a much higher ceiling to go on and be an elite level striker. He may not be quite there yet, but you persist with that quality instead of resorting to a player who has Conference standard technical ability.
You don't compete at the top level whilst playing with ten men every game. Football is a team game, and is especially so the higher the level you play.
Rashford 24 in 97 premier league goals
Lukaku 109 in 239 Premier league goals
When Lukaku is fit the man is a beast. We all saw it. His strength was incredible. We lost a tremendous front man. No point in bringing him down.
It certainly looked that way.United flowing until he came on, Ole isn't fooled by his tap ins
im wandering how much ferguson is pulling the strings here.Probably the wrong thread but Solskjaer seriously doing the business at United
I cant understand why Jose persisted with him, its almost like he was trying to get himself sackedIt certainly looked that way.
Gary Neville hit the nail on the head when he said Lakaku slows everything down.
Won’t be long before he gets a cob on at United.
He has, apparently.im wandering how much ferguson is pulling the strings here.
the team have reverted back to his old way of playing.. it has me thinking he has been down on the training pitch..
Had an easy run in though to be fair, and would've comfortabley got beat today if not for de geaProbably the wrong thread but Solskjaer seriously doing the business at United
I agree with everything you say. However what's also happened to Lukaku is a clash of styles. For Man Utd and most top teams in the prem they like to play 3 athletic fast forwards who can play intricate triangles with eachother. That's not his game. When you pump it up to him or let him run onto the ball and he can use his strength there is no better finisher. He was never super skilful and silky like the modern forwards we see at the highest levels today. . However 30 goals mate for utd in his first season, that's simply amazing. He may be sold in the summer and go abroad as I think he realises the Premier leagues top teams won't play to his strengths anymore. He was hungry when we had him though mate, he had everything to prove to show that he was an elite level striker. He was mouthing off about the Champions League every chance he got and at times he looked unplayable.
Fast forward to today, he got his big money move yet rather than still having that hunger the lad looks like he's ate a horse. He waddled on to the pitch.
They weren't winning the easy games before he took over and they certainly weren't scoring like they are now against those types of teams. But yes today was a Martinez vs Brazil type of game where he's getting praise for a plan that didn't really work except he had De Gea.Had an easy run in though to be fair, and would've comfortabley got beat today if not for de gea

I agree the shots weren't the best but even then we have something like 5 saves from shots closer than the penalty spot which is crazy reactions and pretty impressive to pull off that many times in a row during an actual match. The close range of many of the shots is what makes it so special. If I am honest with you, I think it was more ti do with woeful shooting by the Spurs players than owt De Gea was doing.
Practically every one of those saves was from a shot hit straight at him.
Kudos for his positioning, but as the commentator pointed out, “you would expect a top class goalie to be saving those”.
